Anyone here ever considered starting a business in nursing like group home or home health?
Do you think it's a good idea? Doctors,NP,PA,midwifes, and Physical therapist can start their own clinics. What options does nursing have?

Sure. I know several nurses in private business (rehab center, home health, hospice and day care). Just remember if your business is health care related you will be expected to perform as an RN and will be held to all your BON's rules and regulations. Check to see how your BON feels about marketing your license. Good luck with your project!

I have an acquaintance who owns & operates enema clinics in Fl. srsly. She gets a lot of referrals from local physicians. I think she told me that she also makes house calls. Since this is entirely within the scope of practice for nurses, there is no problem. Hey, ya never know.
I know another nurse who gets paid for helping people wade through medical information - such as sorting out complex medical bills. I don't think she is getting rich, but says that the volume of work is increasing. Her only marketing is through Angie's List.

If its advertised as a colonic cleanse you can charge extra as a spa treatment....

I guess it would only work in Florida, with the number of retirees there. And all those Medicare $$$.

There's a "medical" spa near my home. The names of a DO and an NP are etched on the window. They offer acne treatments, botox, relaxation techniques, etc.

I have a friend who is a Massage Therapist starting up an 'enema clinic' in FL. She's pretty experienced and logical, so I believe her when she says that there is A LOT of money to be made in that field. Her clients range all over the place but a large following of younger/middle aged healthy fit people are her main source of clientele.
To the OP, I have had a dream of taking an old boutique hotel and converting it to a holistic LTC with its own organic garden for meals and massage therapy/reflexology, biofeedback specialists, yoga, salt rooms etc...taking an influence from the holistic hospitals found in parts of china. A place like this would probably only be able to except the wealthier patients...
There is not enough money in the world to make me want to give enemas day in and day out.

I would love to start up a group home for mentally ill. It's a thought right now and I have very little business experience but yes, I have and do think about it often.
