Nurses turn to pet therapy

Published

We all know pets are great for reducing the physical side effects of stress.

What furry creatures await you after a long and terrible shift?

This is my pup. She's 2. Border collie and lab. If you have an obsession with mopping (excited pee-er), digging things out of a dog's mouth, and just generally never having nice things again, she's the dog for you! I will give her this - when my shift swings, she sleeps when I sleep without any trouble.

Specializes in Pediatrics, Emergency, Trauma.

I have fur babies as well; all are rescues and they have comic-like names; one loves to "clean" the inside of my sandals, one loves to clean out my sock drawer, and there are two that I call the wonder twins-one loves running outside in a fugue state each summer-not this summer )(whew!) and is my masseuse; and the other acts like Cramer on Seinfeld, but gives high fives and high places. :D

My furkids...some are older pics, for some reason the darn computer kept failing the uploads but I got these ones to work.

The orange cat is an adorable menace, the boxer/lab mix is the cuddliest thing ever, the boxer is grey in the face now but still a puppy at heart and the Bengal is such a diva that became her name after awhile. Main problem is both dogs think they're small and like to sit on laps when in reality they are both rather large.

ps speaking of rather large...yipes! Those pics are huge! Fortunately the thumb nails are small enough to see.

And this is why I don't post pics!!

My squooshy, husky cat is staring at me and purring so loudly I can't think. He is annoyed that I am not petting him.

Specializes in M/S, LTC, Corrections, PDN & drug rehab.

Lola is part Boxer. She actually boxes!

My last dog was a German Shepard mix. Huge difference in their personalities. Lola is just a goof.
