About Samantha Harris

Samantha Harris specializes in Post-Surgical, Med-Surg, Travel, Agency.

Hi! My name is Samantha and I have been a smart aleck my whole life. I am a second career nurse from the South. I have a wonderful husband and a few pets. There would be more, but the hubs said, "No!" Before I was a nurse, I used to be an illustrator and graphic designer. When the economy tanked, the first expense that most people dropped was the advertising budget. So, I started working as a CNA when my hours kept getting cut, then I decided I might as well be a nurse so I wouldn't starve. Besides, I love old people. Due to circumstances outside my control, since I graduated I have had half a dozen nursing positions across the country, which gives me a wide, but shallow, field of experience. As my husband jokes, I know just enough to keep me out of trouble wherever I go! Currently, I am working on my BSN, and hopefully settling in for a few years here in Phoenix. Fingers crossed! I love to write and have done it off and on my whole life. I wrote some truly horrible poetry as a high school student and some surprisingly good essays and short stories. I showed a few to friends and they told me I should be a writer. Being slightly masochistic, I thought, why not? I have three quarters of the rought draft of my first novel finished and plan to publish it early next year. In the interim, someone suggested I write for Allnurses.com. I have been on here, sometimes as a lurker, sometimes as a member, for a few years and have really enjoyed some of the articles posted by members. I thought I might as well combine the two biggest parts of my professional life. Keep on the lookout for the adventures of Agency Girl, The Travel, and Med-Surg Marauder. All of their stories are fiction based on real life experiences.
