I'm planning to work in Baptist Health System in San Antonio, Texas as RN. I have an aunt (from Connecticut) who also works in Houston, TX. Pls. share your experience. Are there many filipinos in Texas?:p

hello to all Filipino nurses in texas...There's an agency here in the Phils that are hiring nurses for texas, even without state board and nclex/ielts...is that possible? I just want to ask your opinions on this because I really want to go out of the country now..Thanks everyone...

An agency can't issue licenses or visas. It is not possible and there are no short cuts sorry.

Absolutely NOT! You cannot be a nurse in Texas without passing NCLEX and being licensed. You cannot take NCLEX in Texas without passing Credential Evaluation.

I want to know who these guys are.

Are they offering to provide for your NCLEX related fees? Are they offering to process your documents? What kind of visa are they proposing you enter the US on?

Are the guaranteeing that you'll be working as a nurse in a hospital or are they getting nurses for in-home care positions? Be wary of this as a lot of illegal placements have been done for in-home carers in the USA. If you get caught then you cannot say that you didn't know and the agency put you there even if that is true.

The agency will get away free because they are not based in the USA and you will be deported never to return again.

My recommendation is ALWAYS to deal with agencies based in the country that they are placing you in jobs for.

I've been talking to some other foreigners who are doing business in the Philippines to help nurses. We agree that there needs to be an impartial non-government watchdog group to protect nurses from scam artists.

Do as much research as you can on these guys and if they tell you something about immigration then run it by a major immigration firm in the USA like Hammond or Siskind. If they cannot answer then find another immigration firm IN THE USA to check if what they are saying is true or not.

Actually, I still have to attend their orientation to know the details. But in the email they sent me, it is mentioned that after they send the TOR to an accredited credential evaluation agency, their US office will assist the nurse on the filing of credential evaluation report and State Board certification later on.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

This can all be done by yourself with a lot of saving and even if you go through the process what visa are they going to be applying for. Agencies have no control over visas being issued and unless you have experience you may find it tough.

Hi everyone,

I'm just new here in allnurses.com. :)

Any update regarding hiring of filipino nurses in texas? My cousin who is living in Texas informed me that there is a hospital who hire nurses but we are not that sure if they really petition nurses from the Philippines. I do have a tourist visa and I just want to ask you guys any feedback regarding hiring of nurses in Texas? If ever I got hired and I'll come to Texas do you think I will be given a working visa? btw, I paased the NCLEX-RN exam for CALI.

Hoping for any reply. Thank you! :)

You need to contact the hospital yourself,as them if they will petition you, go home do all the steps to become a tx nurse and file with us immigration and wait 6 yeArs for your petition to become current.

I think the best thing that you can do is if you can get a job that is not actually nursing. My aunt came here as a tourist and she was hired as a different job for her to stay and work here. The lawyer told her about the freezing of nurse applicants. My aunt talked to one of her friends and got an office job in a Home Health agency which in turn petitioned her as she was staying here for vacation.

Hope this helps.
