Ill admit im not a fan of holistic/herbal nonsense, but if it makes a person feel better and is COMPLETELY HARMLESS it wont bother me a ton (ok yes it still will, except for pain management in which case it doesnt as much)
But lately ive seen a ton of nurses spreading this CRAP via social media
https://wausaunews.wordpress.com/2014/01/18/big-hospital-finally-telling-the-truth-about-cancer-johns-hopkins/
A list of "truth" about fighting cancer. Now despite the fact that its fake and actually isnt by John Hopkins at all whatsoever, it bothers me when nurses who are supposed to be healthcare professionals start peddling dangerous nonsense that can KILL people.
Some of the stuff in the article is true, or even general and vague. But then it goes on to "insinuate" that chemo/radiation is bad, and all this nonsense about becoming a vegan, getting rid of sugar, aspartme and scifi herbal remedies and what not.
And just makes me worry that people who dont have health science backgrounds see this crap coming from a nurse and having that lend credibility to its claims.
Maybe im nuts for having it bother me so much, but I just find it wildly irresponsible and quite honestly dangerous.

Oh, yes. I remember the last thread you started about "nurses promoting herbal nonsense." Whatever.
?????
Its a link of basically old wives tales and myths about cancer, that promotes an agenda and disguises myths for "facts" (falsely might I add).
And when nurses promote it it adds credibility to something that misinforms people with potentially tough decisions to make at some point.

I hate when this crap makes the rounds on Facebook and the like. I also hate that poor Morgan Freeman is announced to have died every other week. Can't believe everything you read on the internets.
Fortunately, I always post this rebuttal from Hopkins' website: http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/kimmel_cancer_center/news_events/featured/cancer_update_email_it_is_a_hoax.html

That sounds like crap from that "DR" Mercola's site.
And you know what's even sadder? Someone took it as the gospel truth and posted it on a breast cancer form. She was quickly told it is a hoax.

I am in complete agreement. Dr. Mercola's website and Natural News drive me crazy. The anti-vax crowd do so as well. I'm always posting the links to show folks they are believing in myths.
So yeah, I'm with you OP.

Yes...what I love about the Internet; hoaxes/myths can be debunked in record time....hoping for others to see this and not be too wrapped up about it, regardless of one's viewpoint on "alternative" (hate labeling it as such) medicine.

Haha, just made almost exactly the same thread before I saw this. This article was one thing in my rant, among some other garbage. It's ridiculous. And yes! Nurses sharing this! Shaking my head.
At least the truth was presented...now, the other part is whether the person believed it or not...

Dude, seriously, what nurses where are telling people this stuff? Besides, anything on social media gets an automatic snopes check.
