How many steps do you walk in a busy shift and a slow shift? I just put a pedometer app in my phone. I was unsure about its accuracy, so I counted steps with it in my pocket and it's pretty good! I've had two slower shifts at 8300 steps and a moderately busy one at 9600.
Did you just get the Fitbit, and are you happy with it? I still haven't decided if I want to drop the money.
Yup, on Friday. I like it. It even has a silent alarm, so if I wear it to bed, it'll alarm without waking the whole house by vibrating. Keeping it on sync all the time kills the battery, though.
Yesterday I had around 16,000 steps. It was a very busy ER shift. O_O
I also use a Fitbit (Charge HR). I love mine. It crapped out after about 4 months, though, but all I did was e-mail Fitbit and told them what happened and they sent me a brand new one free of charge. Haven't had any issues since then. Almost everyone at my work wears one and they all love them.

That's awesome! I was afraid of it crapping out quickly. That was the one thing I read consistently in the bad reviews.
Right this second, I think my favorite thing is the silent alarm. I still don't trust it enough to not set a backup, but it hasn't let me down yet.
I average around 11-12k but that's not accurate because my phone is tracking it and I don't walk with my phone before and after work. I have an Apple Watch that I use to wear at the clinic I worked at but I'm back in the hospital so there's no way I'm wearing it there. I'll have to look at buying a Fitbit to track my steps. On my off days I go to the gym 4 times a week and I average 18-19k on a good day.
Depends on my ICU patient assignment.
1:1 intubated and hemodynamically unstable - hardly budge from the bedside except to grab more gtt's/supplies.
1:2 walkie-talkie/needy/psych-issue patients, I've logged upwards of 7 miles/shift.
1:2 intubated and stable patients leaves me with about 2 miles, if that. On nights like that, I'll walk around the unit a few times to stretch and help out other nurses, but it doesn't add too much to the count.
Now after reading the comments, I'm gonna splurge and get a FitBit. lol
15k on average in a 12 hour shift (midnights). My record was a little bit over 27,000 steps by the end of my shift, but this included me running around prior to work.
I recently had to buy a new Fitbit and decided to upgrade and get the Fitbit Charge HR, and I love it!
I love that it's a watch, a pedometer & a caller ID (when someone calls my phone, the Fitbit vibrates & lets me know who it is).
