As a male, I'm going to look pretty silly in a short, white skirt, white stockings (though, I do have the thighs for them), Mary Janes, and one of those clip on hats.
Oh well. I guess that's the price one must pay to have a career worth coming to work for.

You forgot the cap!!!!! Ha ha ha.
Because thinking of nurses as a selfless and giving profession is just totally unacceptable.
Actually, yes, I think so. Nurses are human - therefore entititled to human emotions. The steroetype of nurses as selfless and giving, and "martyrs" is the reason many burn out so quickly. That steroetype causing patients, employers, co-workers and ourselves to expect us to do too much. We work 12 hour shifts without meals, bathroom breaks, or any breaks becuase of it - which means we are preforming at our best. That places us and our patients in danger.
So, no, I do not an want to be seen as an "angel", "saint", "selfless" or ect. I see that as a weakness to the profession, and the reason we are bullied by others and ourselves. I am a human with human emotion and needs.

I understand how you feel demeaned. You are a professional clinician. Never forget that.
