Hey yall! I was just wondering if anyone knows of any online schools in order to become an Rn or getting a BSN without being an LVN or RN.
Thank you for responding!

No. In order to be a nurse, you have to actually take of patients and practice your clinical skills on real people. There are no prelicensure nursing programs that do not have a clinica component of some sort, or require you to already have some type of healthcare degree.

Depending on the program you can do some prerequisites online but no nursing program is going to be totally online. You will have two years of clinicals in which you will need to go to different facilities and you have skills to learn and be checked off as having mastered, so these are all in person.
If you already have a Bachelor degree in something else you can look into schools that would have you do a year or so of courses and clinicals to get you to the BSN stage. But no matter what, you have to go to the school.

Your post is a bit confusing. A BSN will still have an RN once they pass the NCLEX. A BSN is somewhat useless without becoming licensed. All nursing programs require a certain amount of clinical hours in order to qualify for boards which must be completed in person. There is no online shortcut for that. While many prerequisites can be completed online, A & P also have lab hours which likely can't be done online either.

I agree with all the above, except...I took A&P online through CCC and it was wonderful. They have Micro online too.
Oh, that's cool, how'd you do your lab hours.
You have to buy a lab kit and do the labwork at home; then write up papers. Chemistry was the same way. It just worked at the time, then I took the plunge and went to school!

I did my A&P online. They send you a lab kit with all kinds of fun stuff like an eyeball, a heart, a fetal pig. You get to dissect and identify whatever they want you to and I used a webcam to videotape myself. My kids were obnoxious hams during it and the professor was the bomb!!! It was great. You have to be careful though, not all Nursing programs will accept an online A&P; some require a seated class for that.

Some community colleges will offer lecture components online but you still have to go to local clinicals. I think there is one school in Washington that is online where you have to arrange your local preceptors. However, there was a catch. You still had to go to clinicals once a week, go to lab hours, perform lab skills, and schedule testing appointments. The testing appointments you would have 3 days to go and schedule an appointment to take a test at the testing center at the college where they video taped you and watched your computer usage. I did one or two classes online and it was a pain in the ass.

My worst nightmare? Working with an online-only educated RN.
