Hi Everyone, I'm planning to apply for the HRSA NurseCorp Scholarship this year. I figured I would go ahead and start the next thread for this award year. I'm currently finishing up some of my prereqs and will be starting my BSN program in June. I know the application date hasn't been released yet but from what I have seen on other threads, it should be opened sometime in March/April with a deadline in May. I've also read that the prompt questions have been the same from one award year to the next so I have begun working on them as well as trying to figure out who I would like to use as recommendations. I would love to hear from all who plan to apply this year.
I understand this sounds a little crazy.. but how exactly do you find the HPSA score? When I am on the website, sometimes certain places come up and other times they do not. I am trying to find specific places. Example Barnes Jewish Hospital and Children's Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. Also, if it is a hospital, does it have designated places in the hospital you need to work? Thanks in advance. I didn't think I would get this scholarship, so I didn't do tons of research.
They have a website where u can search the areas and there points in the guidelines
I received the e-mail stating that I am a finalist today. Very exciting! However, the e-mail also states that this is not a guarantee of the award. Does anyone know what conditions may still affect their decision to grant a finalist a scholarship? Also does anyone have any idea of when we may know for sure that we will be nurse corps scholars. Just don't want to get my hopes up!
Hey guys I've been following the page and I also received the finalist email this morning! I'm asking for clarification for this, when we graduate and want to work at a hospital that hospital just has to have a HPSA score of 14 or higher correct? and that can be for either primary care or mental health like it doesn't have to be both ?
Hi everyone and congrats!
Here is my info:
GPA: 4.0
Program: Associate Degree of Nursing
Total Cost: Around $15,000
Experience: EMT on a Native American reservation for the past five years, currently work in underserved county of Colorado.
*Does anyone know from previous years how much the other reasonable costs stipend is? I saw the monthly stipend listed, but not the ORC.
**Also, I am confused as it says we can only work in a clinic, dental or mental health facility, but then lists several other critical access hospitals...so does this mean we cannot work in a hospital, nursing home or other setting?
Thanks, just trying to clarify.
