Nurse Corps Scholarship 2018-2019

Hi Everyone, I'm planning to apply for the HRSA NurseCorp Scholarship this year. I figured I would go ahead and start the next thread for this award year. I'm currently finishing up some of my prereqs and will be starting my BSN program in June. I know the application date hasn't been released yet but from what I have seen on other threads, it should be opened sometime in March/April with a deadline in May. I've also read that the prompt questions have been the same from one award year to the next so I have begun working on them as well as trying to figure out who I would like to use as recommendations. I would love to hear from all who plan to apply this year.

Seems like everything is taking place at a later date than in the previous years. I'm really hoping we hear something this coming week! Fingers crossed.

So I just got a confirmation email this morning. I'm a finalist. I didn't see a credit check but I'll check again this Friday if I did get one. Praise God.

I just got the notification that I'm a finalist as well and I am in the craziest situation I've ever been in. I'm literally crying and shaking because of everything that has happened. Because we didn't hear anything, I submitted my request to withdrawal from Duquesne and they filed it. I'm supposed to be there for orientation on Wednesday. I live in Rhode Island but Duquesne is in Pittsburgh. As a planner, I told myself that if I hadn't heard anything from the scholarship by last Monday that I needed to go through and withdrawal. Now there is the possibility that I may get the scholarship, the prospect of upending everything in my life, quitting my three jobs last minute without appropriate notice, and dropping everything to go to Pittsburgh is making me shake with anxiety. I know this should be a good thing (especially because I'd be 3 hours away from my best friend from my first bachelor's degree) but it all feels super jumbled and crazy.

I do have a question. In the email it says "Your application has been identified as a finalist under consideration for a 2018 NURSE Corps Scholarship Program award. This is not a guarantee of an award." is there a chance not to receive the scholarship even after being a finalist and filling out all the paperwork?

I received the email at 10 am and checked my portal: I am a Finalist! I don't remember getting a credit check from them also. I literally screamed out loud when i got the email and scared the crap out of my friend sitting next to me!

To everyone else, please don't give up hope. I too am sending prayers up for those still waiting.

I think its kinda safe to say we pretty much got it. Based on the previous cycles, it seems like everyone that was selected as a finalist ended up receiving the award! But i'm also skeptical about the credit check. I don't recall receiving one at all, but who knows! My CK updates again on Friday.

Although the wording is a little cryptic, I believe that what they mean is that the email notification is not enough to get the award... meaning you need to go into the portal and do all of the paperwork and whatnot to receive your award.
