Nurse Corps Scholarship 2018-2019

Published

Hi Everyone, I'm planning to apply for the HRSA NurseCorp Scholarship this year. I figured I would go ahead and start the next thread for this award year. I'm currently finishing up some of my prereqs and will be starting my BSN program in June. I know the application date hasn't been released yet but from what I have seen on other threads, it should be opened sometime in March/April with a deadline in May. I've also read that the prompt questions have been the same from one award year to the next so I have begun working on them as well as trying to figure out who I would like to use as recommendations. I would love to hear from all who plan to apply this year.

what schools are you all attending?

I'm giving it until Tuesday and then I have to withdraw. Orientation is Wednesday and with that comes hundreds of dollars worth of fees and such that I cannot afford to waste if I am not going to actually attend school. I cannot quit my job if I am not sure that I am receiving the scholarship, and If I am not going to receive the scholarship, I cannot attend school. So, I am a bit bummed, but super congrats to all the finalists!! I will try again next year.

Congratulations! I am very happy for everyone! When is your deadline to turn the contract in by?

I will try to answer as many questions as I can. I understand the questions some may be asking as to why someone got a finalist email. I cannot answer that question, but I can tell you my situation:

Looking for funding of last two years for BSN (no student debt for the first two years of prerequisites)

GPA- 4.0

EFC- Low but not 0

Program- Barnes Jewish College (Washington University) St. Louis, MO

Cost- $55,000

Age- 38 years old Caucasian female-returning student military spouse

No previous healthcare history. I did grow up in a farming community. St. Louis has many extremely high underserved healthcare areas. I tutor in language arts and I personally think my essays and area where I live where the two best things in my application (but I have no way of knowing).

I hope this helps.

For those who are finalists, do you have like concrete information on the taxes and how much we'll be paying (like % wise) or any info at all?

Hi all!

New to the thread, but I've been reading through for the last few weeks. I got the finalist email this morning around 9:30 as well! Congrats to all those who have received the email. And to others, stay patient!

are you BSN or NP?

Gahhh... I didn't get a email :( Congratulations though ladies! Do they usually always send out all the notifications at once?

I didn't get an email either... I'm still going to keep my fingers crossed. I could really use this scholarship. Congrats to those that are finalist and good luck to the under reviewers like myself!

Hello all! All of you who got finalist emails. What are your credentials and what programs are you in or applying for?

I understand this sounds a little crazy.. but how exactly do you find the HPSA score? When I am on the website, sometimes certain places come up and other times they do not. I am trying to find specific places. Example Barnes Jewish Hospital and Children's Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. Also, if it is a hospital, does it have designated places in the hospital you need to work? Thanks in advance. I didn't think I would get this scholarship, so I didn't do tons of research.
