Hi Everyone, I'm planning to apply for the HRSA NurseCorp Scholarship this year. I figured I would go ahead and start the next thread for this award year. I'm currently finishing up some of my prereqs and will be starting my BSN program in June. I know the application date hasn't been released yet but from what I have seen on other threads, it should be opened sometime in March/April with a deadline in May. I've also read that the prompt questions have been the same from one award year to the next so I have begun working on them as well as trying to figure out who I would like to use as recommendations. I would love to hear from all who plan to apply this year.
For those of you who received notification of "finalists", did y'all have each document submitted labeled with name and ID number, and has anyone received an email notice of being eliminated or disqualified? My status as of this morning shown "under review"...waiting and praying!
I didnt. There was a huge discussion about this earlier on in this thread. I don't think they actually cared as long as there was some way to identify who you are.
Hello everyone, psych NP here at the University of Pennsylvania. Haven't heard anything back yet -- I applied for the NHSC and Nurse Corps scholarships. Still hoping and praying for good news! Congratulations to those of you who are finalists! :)
Here is my information for those that are interested.
Age: 25
GPA: 4.0 in current nursing program (not accelerated)/4.0 prereqs at the same institution
Undergrad GPA: 3.7
Program: Duquesne University Second Degree Accelerated BSN program; 3 semesters.
Previous degree: Bachelor's of Science in Psychology from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA
Program cost ~ $55,000
EFC:
Funding requested: technically 2 years because of how Nurse Corps does their fiscal year. It's from 8/27/18-6/30/19;7/1/19-8/2/19
Previous healthcare experience: have been working as a CNA at two local hospitals since October of 2016 with a brief interlude in 2017 when I broke my leg. At both hospitals I've worked on medical/surgical floors so really a mixed bag with all kinds of patients.
And no, my application did not have all of the proper identification on every page which gave me a mini heart attack after the fact.
