After binge reading the thread for 2015-2016, I decided it's time to start one for this year. I am a single mother opting to pursue a BSN after a post-quarter life crisis. Because I have multiple degrees, I have just about exhausted all of my financial aid options. I would like to hear from anyone applying for the scholarship. What's your story? What are your stats? Previous applicants and recipients I would like to hear your story too!
Starting at a private nursing school in May (with what little fin. aid I have left)
1 year AmeriCorps
1 year internship at group home for at-risk adolescents
5 years working with Dept. of Corrections (2.5 of which were counseling offenders)
OK so I called the 800 number and all she said was they have till sept. 30th. And that if you did not get the scholarship they will notify you as not being awarded as well. My application still says under review in the portal and I haven't been told I'm not gething it yet so trying to stay positive!
I GOT MY EMAIL! They sent it about 25 minutes ago, so 8:05am. My last name starts with a B and I'm in Ohio. I'm so excited to be given this opportunity!
Edited to add: I truly don't believe last name or location has anything to do with it.
I am an ABSN student (about $50k) and I have a 3.72+ GPA. 1 year of teaching english to ESOL and special education students.
should I be nervous about this on the confirmation page?
"Congratulations! Your application has been identified as a possible recipient for a 2016 NURSE Corps Scholarship Program award. This is not a guarantee of an award. At this time, it is required you complete the following steps by 8/3/2016 ."
wow what a relief - so I got the email just now on my phone right before class started and my friend sitting next to me *screamed* so I had to tell my whole cohort that I got the email while I was totally welling up in tears
so it would have been a BUMMER if I was actually only a finalist!
I received my award email this morning at 8am. I screamed, then I cried. Words can not express how thankful I feel. Good luck to those still waiting, there is still time!!

I got the award this morning - just a few minutes ago. I am so, so grateful. Praising God. And praying for the rest of you still waiting.
