2018 Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program

Nurses New Nurse

Published

Hi all,

I've been reading up on the Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program and looks like in past years, threads have been started for the yearly application process. I'll be applying as a Staff RN (non-faculty) working at a DSH with an HPSA Score of 16. Not sure of my DTI percentage yet. Hoping to connect with others that will be applying to the program next month and we can all share our updates here. Best of luck to everyone!

Have any non-Advanced Practice Nurses received notification of an award?

I haven't seen any non-NP's get awarded yet.

I am nurse faculty and got a final recipient e-mail and accepted on July 27th. No countersign as of yet.

I have on 8 20. I'm a RN.

Hello, not sure if anyone else cares about this info, but I found it very interesting. The link below is the report to congress on the NCLRP and the NC scholarship program. The most recent one I could find was from 2016, but there is also one for 2015. Basically lays out how many awards were given in 2016 for the loan repayment program, and the breakdown between NPs, RNs, NF, etc. Also lays out what the overall funding amount was for that year, if awardees defaulted and for what reason, and other things. Anyway, I thought it was interesting and thought some of y'all might as well.

Last year I received the 'you suck' email in late September. I haven't heard anything else so I suppose I'll be getting it again this year. 😔

Received my finalist award email today! Here are my stats:

Hey Everyone,

So I've been following this thread ever since applying for NCLRP. This is my third year applying and I will say I did read that the sooner your application is in, the better. I decided to follow that advice this time around and got my application submitted within days of the cycle opening. Credit check was done by Credco on April 9th. I don't know if/when there was an employment verification as this was never brought to more attention nor did I inquire. With that being said, I am thrilled to announce I got an email from HRSA today containing my finalist letter! OMG, this has been a long, long road and to be honest, I did not think I'd ever see the day. The total HRSA accepted for loan repayment was about $168,000. I accepted the offer almost immediately and was prompted to input my banking information. I'm hoping this means it's 100%. If this is your first, second, third, or fourth time applying and you don't hear back I encourage you to not give up! This is an amazing blessing I hope you all receive good news in the days to come!

HPSA Score: 17

Area: CNM

DTI: not 100% sure but REALLY high

Third Time Applicant

thank you for the reply! congratulations!

I probably wouldn't touch it. However, ask program affiliates whether it is permissible once you start your reimbursements.

I received that email last year as well but received finalist email this year. Don't give up!

I've been following this thread for over a month now, joining in with the waiting crowd, anxious about whether I would or wouldn't be awarded. Yesterday, on 8/29, I received an email, and upon logging into the site for Nurse Corps Loan Repayment, I found out that I am a finalist! It's exciting, but also scary because it's dependent on funding being available. So I could still get to 9/30/18 and find out that funding is not available and that I will not receive an award. So a few minutes of happiness was quickly replaced by more anxiety. This waiting game is so hard. Anyway, I'm an RN, I submitted my application within a few days of it being open. Debt to income ratio is around 170%, HPSA I think was 18, so I was in tier 1. Let me know if anyone has questions and I'll try to answer. I wish everyone the best of luck.

Jessica
