Hi all,

I've been reading up on the Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program and looks like in past years, threads have been started for the yearly application process. I'll be applying as a Staff RN (non-faculty) working at a DSH with an HPSA Score of 16. Not sure of my DTI percentage yet. Hoping to connect with others that will be applying to the program next month and we can all share our updates here. Best of luck to everyone!

Will be applying as an NP. DTI is about 250%. God knows I really need this award and I pray I get it. Waiting for the application to open. Wish everyone well.

I am faculty, DTI ~150%. Hoping so much for this! Took a 40k pay cut to teach and my loans are about to come out of deferment (eek!). Best of luck to my fellow nurses!

Hello

I logged in and saw a message that reads thus

Hello Ozioma

The 2018 NHSC nurse Corp application is now closed. I saw the same thing for loan repayment. Other programs say 2017. Does anyone have this experience. I hope it's a typo

I plan to apply to this program. I signed up for the e-mail notification ,but I have yet to receive anything. Last year, the application was made available at the beginning of January......so I don't know what is going on.

Hi all,

This will be my second year applying for Nurse Corps and my third for the NHSC (when that opens). I also signed up for a notification when the application cycle opens but found it interesting that it already said it was closed for this year. From what I remember in previous years, the cycle typically opens in January. I'm hoping I didn't miss it!

I was also wondering if any of you have applied previously and (if so) were able to find out why you didn't get selected for a reward? My HPSA score is 16 and my DTI ratio is 153%, which puts me in tier 1.

I dont know if it has something to do with this

I got an email recently about this; btw, im currently a participant with NHSC LRP, and received the award last yr, 2017 cycle

[h=1]Update: How the Government Shutdown Impacts the NHSC[/h]

Due to the absence of either an FY 2018 appropriation or Continuing Resolution for the Department of Health and Human Services, the Federal Government is shutdown. At this time that National Health Service Corps programs (i.e., Loan Repayment and Scholarship) will not be directly impacted by the shutdown due to funds being previously appropriated for these programs. However, if government personnel are in furlough status, day-to-day government operations may be impacted and delays in responding to your inquiries and requests may occur. We appreciate your consideration during this time.

I just received email notification that the cycle has opened. I went to begin the application and the site is down for "maintenance" until tomorrow.
