Nurse Corp Scholarship Finalist

Hello there. I was trying to look into older posts about older HRSA or Nurse Corp scholarship winners. I currently applied to the 2013-2014 cycle and attending a private nursing school. I have a EFC of 0 and basically none of my parents work. Just this past Wednesday I received and email congratulating me on being chosen for the Nurse Corp scholarship. I was pretty excited about the good news but the email also said I needed to accept the award. I went to the HRSA website and it is asking for additional information and at the top it says I am a finalist and the award is not guaranteed. My question is did I get the scholarship or not? The email and the website contradict each other. Have any of you applied for the scholarship? Any responses? I also called HRSA about the W-4 forms they are asking for and apparently they are having problems with that whole process. So yea any inquiries or comments would be REALLY helpful.

I'm in the same boat as everyone here, school starts for me next week! Will anyone post once their final OK comes in, I'm anxious to hear ASAP. I did take out my loans after speaking with an HRSA rep. They said that it was okay for me take them and preferred that I pay for everything with these loans rather than buy books from out of pocket. After the scholarship has final approval, then a credit is dispersed to the school and credited to my account. That being said, I hope it works out and hopefully more clarity can come for all!

My status has not changed in the portal. I will definitely post if anything changes. Classes start September 23 for me, I don't think I'm going to take out a loan because my bill doesn't need to be paid until September 10.

I have a feeling they might take until October but having all hopes that things will clear up by September :) August is basically over.

I just hope they start communicating with our schools soon. I would hate to have to deal with late fees and I'm waiting to purchase my books. A formal award letter would be nice. Hoping for some good news and movement :).

Great news! Just received an email from HRSA and they have FINALLY updated our status. We are no longer "In Final Review" and we can now breathe easy. If you log into the portal, there are documents that you can reference and guidance on working with your school regarding invoices. The wait is over! Congrats to all! :)

I just got an email from them. Ladies check your emails!!

Got my update! :sarcastic:

Looks like they only notified those who received the initial email in July. I received mine in early August so I guess I have more waiting left to do.

Oh not Just ladies here. We got a guy winner here too ;). No longer says "finalist" Congrats to you all. Maybe we all should start a fb group? Let me know if that has already been done :)

I really like the idea of a Facebook group for NURSE Corps Scholarship participants. Please post if you start one.

facebook group sounds like a great idea!

Facebook group sounds like an awesome idea! Keep me posted if someone decides to create one. Congrats everyone.

I just wanted to say with the invoice for tuition I was a little confused how my school was suppose to get the payment. I send in a question in the portal and they told me to send my award letter to a lady in my school who I believe is a financial aid officer. Apparently that's how they can send the invoice and get their money for tuition cost. If you guys have more input I think it will be a great help for us confused people :)
