I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS RECENTLY TAKEN THE NURSE CAREER BATTERY TEST AND WHAT THEY THOUGHT OF IT??/PLS RESPOND?:confused::confused:

Recently, I took the NCB test; the test is a product of a company named DDI. DDI e-mails the test taker a user name and password then a hyperlink to the actual test. Total time allowed is 60 minutes and the test is approximately 23 questions. I don't think it was bad. I thought a couple of the questions were a little "out of left field", but for the most the part, it appeared geared towards leadership, conflict resolution and communication. There weren't any nursing knowledge questions along the lines of med calculations, pathoflow, etc.

What is a Nurse Career Battery Test??

I've never heard of this NCB test.....

It's a test that some hospitals use during the nurse hiring or promotion process in order to identify the best candidates.

Oh wow that is interesting. I hadn't heard of that being done. It's good for me to know because I'm in the middle of a Job Search and applying to various hospitals. Thank you.

I've been a nurse for >30yrs and was asked to take Career Battery Test and failed .I don't think it is a good indicator of your abilities.There really isn't anyway to prepare, it's a lot of situation questions, and depending

on how you reply you pass or fail.Once you fail ,you don't get an interview.and you can't apply again to that hospital for 1 year.

I just recently took the test as well and failed.I was told to come back and try again in 6 months.I thought the test seemed very subjective and really not a true indicator of skills needed to perform on the job. I would like to know how they would like a person to answer the questions to pass.:confused:

I took something similar when I applied for a promotion within the unit I worked I passed but with a score lower than they liked so I wasnt interviewed!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is my opinion this test serves no useful purpose other than to make money for the consulting companies that introduce it to HR's for the purpose of conducting these assessments.

Everything in this test is basically an exact repeat of what you already demonstrated during your clinical practicum.

Let's see, here's a small list of what's involved with this NCB test nonsense...

1. Administrating patient care physical interventions such as cold therapy, heat therapy, pressure, massage etc.

2. Developing clinical pathways and nursing interventions in an appropriate manner.

3. Crisis intervention strategies.

4. Patient safety issues. Bed rails, call bells etc.

5. How to carry a bed pad to the dirty service room without spilling it on the floor along the way. LOL OK, I'm just kidding about the last one...

The point is, this is just silly nonsense designed to make HR consultants more money...

Why attempt to assess someone's abilities who has already successfully demonstrated all the necessary requirements to graduate from an approved school of nursing?

It's like asking a licensed plumber to write and submit an exam before you employ them to fix your leaking pipe.

Doesn't the diploma hanging on the wall over there already serve this intended purpose or does it no longer have any value?

Then there are the Gallup ones and then another title of which IDK. The second one I failed. It was a tricky one I remember went something like, would you describe yourself as...

more compassionate and having the IQ of a brick?

less compassionate and a sloppy alcoholic?

(not really):D You get the gist, they all made you feel like all questions were a trap.

i have 39 years experience as well and failed it! GO FIGURE. Does anyone know th eanswers they r looking for?
