NSU EntryBSN Spring 2011

Hello perspective nursing classmates! Applying to any nursing program is nerve wrecking but I'm hoping this thread will allows us to help each other and support one another during this difficult process. Some of us have been through this more than once; hopefully it will be the last. I want to wish all of us the best of luck! :nurse:

i didn’t do the application through sallie mea directly, i did it through nova’s financial aid office i went to their financial aid forms -> http://www.nova.edu/financialaid/forms/index.html and under loan documents i chose [color=#333333]federal stafford loan request form ->http://www.nova.edu/financialaid/forms/1011/federal_stafford_loan_request.pdf because i am independent. if your considered dependent and getting the loans with your parents you might have to fill out the [color=#333333]federal direct parent plus loan application -> http://www.nova.edu/financialaid/forms/1011/undergrad_plus_loan.pdf

they grant $9500.00 the first time your borrow if your independent if your dependent they grant $5,500.00(3500 subsidized and the rest unsubsidized), you should apply for and be receiving the frag which is $1212.00. remember we just need funds for winter and summer and then have to reapply for everything in june for the following 3 semesters. the 2011 tuition is $19,995.00 for florida residents so you split that in 3 = $6665.00 per semester and i know there are other fees its $352 per semester in 2010 it might go up a bit for our 2011 term. so i would say $7050.00 per semester if the extra fees go up if not then $7017.00 the first year we need about 14,100.00 that’s only tuition.

i say you go the route i went see what they award you through grants and federal then go through private loans to borrow the rest. i requested the max and recieved the full 9500.00

the sooner you do this the better. you don’t have to go to the financial aid office you can fax everything in. that’s what i did. make sure to follow your status on webstar it will tell you when they receive stuff and review the documents and call as many times as you have too lol

hope this helps

Yes, very helpful info. I just contacted them and they stated the same.So expensive! I may just take out a private loan of 10,000 to help out with any differences. I need free money from some where. lol. I'll be considered independent the following year; the last year of nursing school. lol. So at least that will help some. Thanks for the information. I figured out how to do the Magnus for our immunizations. Hopefully that will get done by next week. I found a uniform store in front of South Miami hospital that does the embroidery for $9.99! But I haven't bought any because (1) I don't like they way they fit (I wish we were wearing a softer brand) and (2) I need to save more money. The petite pants still fit too long and the small top is too tight around my boobs but then the medium is huge!

Hey, is anyone else getting emails that correlates with the fall students?

yeah, I had to call A.O and she called the support cordinator so that she could update her system. They had me as a fall student in one system and a winter student in another so the cordinator ask me to call A.O to make

sure it was corrected b/4 I was left without a seat at all! NOVA is all over the place! I get the orientation email, Bbq email, even an email telling me that I have been enrolled for my fall classes! that's the one that made me call. Just call to me sure everything is in the right order.

Thanks Karina. I also received those emails.

I received emails regarding attending the orientation to learn more about the application process?! Has anyone received those? I haven't called A.O, I just ignored them since I have paid all my things but now I'm worried since I read that some of you were getting email regarding fall students. Any thoughts?

I called A.O and I missed her call but she did see that I was registered for the Winter 2011 term. The emails are probably just a glitch in the system. Is anyone done with everything yet (the paperwork)?

Also, the certificate of physical examination form doesn't look like a full physical which includes height, weight, BP, temp, etc. and like a part where you mark off that everything is normal...So, is that simple form what we use to submit as a physical exam or is there another form?

Futurenurse= I did my blood titers, got a copy from my physician. Then I converted each sheet of my immunizations into a PDF. According to the website any forms submitted must be in PDF. If you don't know how to covert the forms yourself into PDF. It's ok the website as a fax number where you can fax your information to their medical records department and they can convert them into PDF for you. Hope this info helps. If you need more help let me know
