NSU EntryBSN Program Fall 2010

Published

Hey I was wondering who has applied to the Nursing Program @ Nova starting fall 2010?

I would like to know of any updates any one has heard on the process, interviews, etc.

thanks!! best of luck!!:p

Jerziana29 i have a question about your friend. Does she have a bachelors degree already and then apply to the accelerated program to Barry or did she just complete all the pre-reqs? I applied to Nova and I've been in school for about 4 and a half years already...I have tons of credit under my belt and I was considering applying to the accelerated program at Barry but I don't know if I'd be eligible for it. If you have any info that could help me let me know :) thanks!

Hey lindalove no she doesnt have a bachelors she has a ton of credits under belt as well she has taken i think EVERYTHING KNOWN TO MAN at miami dade.... she got accepted because she completed the pre-req's and she qualified for the minimum GPA... she actually thought she wasnt getting in because its such an intense program and so selective or whatnot.. right now her gpa went up to a 3.3 well its going up to a 3.3 after this semester... but they took her... she also applied to FIU and Keiser. She took the entrance exam for Keiser which is the way Nova might do it in the future.... i hope this information helped. i know that we need all the help we can get so just let me know.... :nurse:

awesome. I'm going to look into applying as well...I have tons of credits too..lol..its been a long road. thank you so much!

not a problem at all.. i have a long road as well. I am already looking into all the other schools but i dont see why you wouldnt get into Nova? I actually applied to Nova right after New Years exactly that same week... soooo i dont know if thats a good thing or bad thing. I am looking into the Barry's accelerated as well I just need 2 classes to complete. Which I am already thinking of taking in the summer to be done with them... I just want to get into an RN school that offers a BSN im not even being picky anymore... all that matter is that we get in and pass that NCLEX!!

I applied last term and was denied :sniff: At the time I had a 3.45 & was still finishing some pre-reqs, 5 classes to be exact, so I think that definitely had a lot to do with their decision. I was very dissapointed with their rejection letter though because it was very generic so I'm glad to hear there will be more input available this time around. I re-applied in the beginning of March & just noticed they cashed my check. I have a 3.55 now but if they are taking Ws & Fs into consideration I might be in trouble! I have one W & one F back in 2001-2002 for math & english. It was right after high school when I attempted the whole college thing so hopefully they'll see that from my transcripts. Everything else after that has been As & Bs and all my pre-reqs are As - guess we'll see!! I'm SUPER NERVOUS, hate the waiting game!!

Keep me posted if you hear anything new. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE - THINK POSITIVE :)

Its really upsetting to me that NOVA is taking so long to send out info...inclusively, it just sucks that whenever anyone tries to call they give out the same generic answer....I guess its just nerve wrecking not knowing what the heck is taking them so long...Inclusively, the whole 'no more interview' process is upsetting..I just hope that any of us...will receive something soon! I at least want to know if they are even considering my application..

I agree... the whole interview process just completely through me off... some have gotten accepted and others denied, not sure how they are basing this... its horrible how the process to get into nursing is getting.. so competitive that they seem to only give those with those top GPA'a a chancel, like MDC. making it impossible to attend. UGH grrrrrrrrrr just want to know already!

Hey Mvaz003, that was great information about your meeting with the advisor. Thanks for sharing with us and I'm sure everyone else is thankful for it too. :)

By the way, Mari7319 I totally get what you are saying about the w and f and how it happened in the whole college attempting time lol, I have something similar in my transcripts too and you can definitely see the difference from that first semester on until now. For instance, in my transcripts I have a 3.52 but in that 1st sem at MDC which is where I am still attending now I got a D in one class which has been my only one but got a B the next term when I repeated that same class. No W's, so thats good.

As for my case, I got 2 pre-reqs to complete in the summer. They told me I can still apply for the Fall class but my application will not be processed until I finally complete those classes and they receive my transcripts showing the grades, which I believe will be too late. Sooo, I feel its going to be too crazy to apply for this term including knowing that there are 20 people who have already been accepted. Thats why I'm planning to apply for the next deadline Oct 1st for the January 2011 class. Stinks because I would of loved to start in Fall with all of you, but I think I will have a better chance of getting in at NSU and applying without any classes needing to completed.

Well, goodluck and I think we will be good with those old classes, I'm sure they're going to see the difference and notice our dedication from then on. I'm going to keep on seeing what is the status you all are in so I will have a better idea when I finally apply. Stay Positive! Point is, this is what we want to do, and we are all going to get it done, some of us are going to take longer than others or might end up doing it at another school but heyyy we are going to be nurses lol! ;)

Danesc12, you are aboslutely right that we will be nurses one day, and some may take longer than others but we will get there... Mari is right in the fact that we all at one point in college messed up but they should see that we have tried hard thereafter... a lot of people turn themselves around and have these awesome grades, i just dont want them to be like all the others.... I also heard from my friend in the Jan 2010 class that they might implement the TEAS test, which is the nursing entrance exam. I realllllly hope they dont because i dont think that a test measures up who you really are as student it could actually hurt you. Miami Dade after May 2, 2010 they are implementing this test.. so they are going to look at how many times you had to retake it and how high you scored. Its just going to get harder after this year I think.. I hope Nova stalls on that! Lets pray for the rest and let it take its course. I am currently still taking a Micro class so I wont hear anything until after this semester, which the class will most likely be full already... SUCKS... we just need to hang in there!

Hi jerziana29, I hope they do not add that test for the future because definitely like you said, I don't believe those test measure what abilities we may have as a nursing student.

So they are going to add that exam for MDC, wow I didn't know that. Do you know if its just for the generic program? I am going to apply NSU's like I said before but will be applying also at MDC's for the Jan 2011 class just in case. I am doing it through the transitional program though since I'm paramedic certified, but really hope they do not add more requirements.

So you are finishing one more pre-req this semester, thats good. I have a couple friends who are doing the same. Just send your transcripts right after asap, but I think you should be good. Hey class ends in only a month, I'm sure lots of people are in the same boat as you too. If anything keep calling every so often to see what is NSU's status with letters they have sent back etc.

Do you go to MDC also? I'm also taking micro this semester. Well yup hang in there!

Hey Danesc12 yeah MDC just implemented the TEAS test right after this May deadline... their requirements havent changed, atleast since i last was on.. I know that Barry also has another test thats called the Elivera or something like that... with a psychological fill out form at the end... its getting very hard now... yeah i go to MDC but i am taking my last class at Baptist. My GPA is not the best at all... so i am very nervous... i have friends that got in with a 3.1 for last intake, but since there are no more interviews i am sure they are weighing everything out now... and picking the best of the best... which suuuucks... I am not sure about UM at this point. Right now i am just looking at other options...

Wow all these tests, why so harddd lol gosh.:uhoh3: But hey think positive, its good to look for different options though. Its a smart thing to do since at the sametime we are being realistic and having our plans A,B, and C. Do your best now in MCB, I'm sure the gpa will pick up but remember think about how many applicants will be having between your gpa and the minimum 2.7. Lots so look at it like that ;)

By the way, can I IM you, was curious about that question someone else had asked just to have an idea but regardless wouldnt have a problem working with them lol and I think I might know your boss too. If she is the one I am thinking, I got to know about being able to apply for NSU because of her lol.
