How is the BSN entry level program at Nova Southeastern University?
I have a few friends who are currently in the Nova program & they gave me answers to some questions/concerns that were previoulsy posted: Scrubs: the scrubs sold at Nova are more expensive. We can find the more form fitting style or "Greys Anatomy" style scrubs somewhere else & have them engraved by others. My friend said she was able to get away with it so lets see how strict they will be on our class. Lab Coats: we are required to purchase 2 lab coats, but I've been told 1 is more than enough. My friends say they barely ever use it. Backpack: no need for a rolling bag! If need be, you have enough time in between classes to get other books from your car. Also remember we don't have every class on a daily basis. A regular bag that fits your laptop & a notebook or two is sufficient. PDA: an Iphone or Itouch can be used. All you need to do is purchase & download the apps required. My friend showed me the Skyscape app on her Iphone last night. If you're thinking of buying a laptop, Apple has a really good sale for students. $100 off & a free Itouch with your purchase - valid through Sept. 2010 Stethoscope & watch: we won't need these until we get to Foundations which is part of our second semester. I'm personally waiting until orientation for further information. I don't want to get ahead of myself just in case they decide to change something - you never know. If I think of anything else I will let you guys know. Congrats to everyone who's been accepted. I can't wait to start!!!

Marcy004 .. I just called Baptist and they told me I got in. If you want to know right away I say you call them. I couldn't wait anymore so I called - my heart was in my throat. Jerziana did the same & they told her she got in as well. Call them! Good luck!!

Congrats on your acceptance!! That's a tough decision .. I think it all depends on your situation - how long can you go without working & how soon do you need to finish? You also have to keep the competition in mind. Its only going to get worse from here on out & if your GPA isn't in tip top shape then you might want to consider taking this opportunity. GPA is the first thing schools look at. They review your transcripts forwards & backwards taking into cosideration every W, F & repeat. I've actually heard repeating a class doesn't help any especially when its a science. You also have to check on the requirements for retaking a class, I think you need to have a D to be eligible. Personally, if it were me, I would just go with Nova. The quicker you get your Bachelor's degree the quicker you can specialize in something. Taking the LPN route might cost less but it will take you longer and time is money!!

My best advice is to stay positive!! When you want something bad enough you eventually get it. Don't put all of your eggs in one basket - apply everywhere and accept every opportunity thats given to you!! What is your cummulative GPA, not for any specific program, just your overall? If you don't get in for Fall I suggest you take some classes to boost your GPA some even if its just a little. I heard Nova might implement the TEAS entrance exam starting next semester so that might be a plus in your case. GOOD LUCK :)

first i got an email with my webstar account & nova email info so that was my first clue .. then i logged on to my vip page and it said i was "congratulations on your acceptance" so i called and that's when they told me i had to wait until i received the letter in the mail. they don't like to give decision information over the phone so they'll always tell you to wait for the letter whether its a yes or a no. i received my acceptance package in the mail about a week later. the email i received read as follows: important message webstar and your nsu e-mail account webstar and your nsu e-mail account are the official means of communication for nova southeastern university. webstar (webstar.nova.edu, "enter secure area" link) is our web-based system that allows you to register for courses, make payments toward your student account, request transcripts, and update your address. some people have already received a webstar account email but only for financial aid info. when i signed on to my webstar account it allowed me to register for courses, view my student account & more. you get complete access just like you would if you were a current student.

NSU EntryBSN Program Fall 2010
Marcy004 - Hi! Thanks .. I was accepted into the Ft. Lauderdale campus and yes I applied to the Baptist Scholars Program. I actually had my interview last week so now I wait for their letter. Does the waiting ever end?? LOL .. The paperwork can definitely get overwhelming. Just remember to keep copies of everything & whatever you mail out send with some kind of tracking because you know how that goes!!

I believe Nova accepts between 100-140 students and Baptist accepts 40-50. The interview portion was definitely a plus & what made Nova stand out from the rest, but now that they eliminated it from the process grades are what really count! They also take into consideration any Ws & Fs you might have on your transcripts. The essay portion probably helps some, but I think its the last thing they look at. Good luck, I hope you receive an acceptance letter soon! :)

Nova Southeastern University Entry-Level BSN Program
I was accepted into the Fall 2010 entry-level program in the Ft. Lauderdale campus with a 3.55 GPA and completed pre-requisite classes. I also heard there were tons of applications for this semester - more than they have ever had. Nursing has become very popular so schools are only going to be more selective as the competition keeps increasing. I have a friend that was accepted into the Nova Program about 2 years ago with a 2.7 GPA .. crazy!
