Who is taking this with me? Let's support each other. I am currently looking to see if I can find the reading assignments before the week the class opens.

Bump...some students are not seeing this thread. I posted the week one syllabus information if you want to get a head start in this class. Go back a few posts to find it!

Do we need 2 books for this class:
These are the ones listed on OU website:
Bastable, 2008, 3rd edition---Nurse as educator: Principles of teaching & learning for nursing practice--

Jarvis, 2012, 6th edition--Physical examination & health assessment---
Yes...you will need your nurse educator book. And the other one...definitely.

Thanks for the info! I don;t know if I should be excited or frighten because I am taking this class with Family- lol! Do you think that combination is doable? At this point, I have no choice.. must buckle down and just do it!

Has anyone purchased the Case studies yet? I looked on the Evolve website and searched by HESI Physical Assessment Case Studies and a whole list of items popped up with a wide range of prices....obviously I don't want to get the one for $132 when the one for $24.95 will work.

I didn't buy the case studies yet either. I saw on the syllabus that they are supposed to be posting more information about them in the first week of class.
Also, did anyone find Health Promotion by Nora Pender for the discussion? It said it was posted in the resources section, but I can't find the resource link or tab. The other Pender readings don't seem to have the list of lifestyle practices referenced unless I am missing something?

I agree with you that the two linked Pender readings don't have the list of healthy lifestyle practices.
Wow...I cannot remember the details but our group went through this last time in the fall. If I recall correctly there is no LIST it is ideas within the article itself. Such as exercise, non smoking, eating healthy etc.
Here is the old thread from when this class was offered last in the fall. It may be helpful if you have the time to read it.

Same here... There is no positive lifestyle list. When I re read the articles today, I did see a list of sorts on pg 23... maybe that is what we are supposed to be using. But I am totally guessing.
I have a question about the consent form thats due Sunday.
Do we fill out our information on there or who is the "client"

The amount of work that is required in this class is ridiculous. I just finished week one and glanced at week 2 -wish I didn't! It frustrates me to put this much time and effort into something that I do not think anyone even reads.
The redundant assessment form reminds me of Community Health assignment, the one I even forgot about the name and you have to drive around and write about the details you see on the street.
