Ive personally had a blood sugar readings down in the 30s...while at work. My cat wakes me up at home if my BS drops too low. It sucks when it gets low. Ive taken as many as 6 glucose tabs to get it to come up. But the after effects are nasty. You feel real tired, groggy, wore out, hot and sweaty and ornery enough for 10 people!!!

Fascinating thread!

I have nothing incredibly shocking to add...

I had a walking talking 34, must have been lower, because my mom got that number after she found me eating jelly with my hands on the kitchen floor.

And I had a patient with ha1c of 11.6.

:wideyed:

I worked in primary care. Saw that all the time. In fact i didn't even blink at 11. Highest I saw was around 16 I believe. Maybe 18.

I see A1Cs of 12-13 weekly.

Outpt dialysis clinic, pt's BG reads "HI" on meter at least twice a week. A1C 13. He was recently hospitalized for DKA. His first day back, he brought in a box of donuts and ate 6 of them.

K+ >8. Asymptomatic. Pissed-off, and wanted me to tell him the exact amount of mashed potatoes he can have daily

Trigs >3000. Could not enter result into computer, as the program would not accept any number more than three digits. She worked with us and doc on lowering it. She was down to 700 when I left that job.

Pt died on the bus, on the way home from dialysis. We were investigated for it. Found out later he died because INR was 11.

We had nothing to do with monitoring that or his Coumadin, so we were cleared.

Platelets 9,000- 11,000. lived for several months. ES liver.

Today- B/P 50s/30s her entire outpt dialysis tx. She is normally systolic 80s. I did not take off any fluid, and she was arguing with me about it. Pt was mildly dizzy.

Apical pulse 32-36. Walking around, asymptomatic. That was my step-dad. I was on the phone with my mom, had her check it several times, it was correct. I told her to call 911. Step dad refused. He drove himself to his pcp's office, and doc had him direct admitted to ER. He got a pacemaker that evening.

I work in ophthalmology, we see people with a1c with 13-14 all the time. And wonder why they can't see. Those are usually the smokers too.

I had one last week with an A1C of 13.8. The doctor was flabbergasted because the highest he had seen was 11. The pt came in with visual disturbance, was ruling him out for stroke. Think maybe they found the culprit....
