Just had a pt with a BUN of 117 and she was refusing dialysis because "she didn't need it"....she only wanted us to get the fluid out of her legs (4+ bilaterally) and treat her itchy skin (which she thought benadryl would work). In the end, they were able to get some of the fluids off her (legs maybe a 2+) and she went home after two weeks of her refusing most of our treatment suggestions because she "didn't need that"...without a dialysis plan.

Hgb 3.3...

Was told a few days prior at PCP office it was extremely low at 4.0 (or something around that) and to head to the ER. Patient wanted to attend a bday party instead..

The turnup was more of a priority. . .

Specializes in NICU, telemetry.

Not really a lab, but BP high teens to low 20s over teens to high single digits...teenie preemie, maxed out on dopamine, epi, dobutamine. Dead

Seen that picture all too frequently, actually

I had a walking talking 34, must have been lower, because my mom got that number after she found me eating jelly with my hands on the kitchen floor.

I am not diabetic, but in college at a traditional age, I went on a partying/drinking binge without eating. I woke up the next morning, groggy, mind fuzzy, and extremely weak. Had no idea what was happening to me, but the only thought in my mind was a Snickers bar. I crawled (yes, crawled) to the vending machine, got a Snickers, ate it, and felt much better. I would have loved to know what my blood sugar was that morning.
