Now that the semester is almost over, how many of your classmates are still standing?

I don't know if there has been a post like this before, but I am starting a new one:) My school is like a war zone. There are casualties left and right. 2 students got booted in just the past week. The most recent was today(didn't pass the math)It's weird....everything always seems fine in classes until the end of a semester. In the last few weeks it seems that students start dropping like flies. Why is that? We started out with 8 males in our class, and now we are down to 3. Our class is beginning to look like a ghost town...Good thing: we get more 1 on 1 time w/our instructors. Bad thing: I miss my former classmates. So, how many students are still standing in your class?

This is just my first semester, and I only know of one person who didn't make it.

:crying2:

I almost became one of the booted ones. I struggled due to a sick mom, hurting myself and missing a week of class and a clinical day, and I made it. I had to get a 12/12 or 11/12 on my last clinical assignment or i got the boot, i got 12/12. Had to wait to find that out so i was to worried to do any real studying for my final. Only got 2 real study sessions for my final. Screwed up on my test because I focused so mch on my clinical work. Had to get a 73/100 on my final- got an 80/100!!! Passed with an 80% C and I'm lovin it- Winter Break here I come!!! So far we have lost 3/9 in my clinical group and i know 2 others that dropped because they werent doing good and another got the boot because she gave meds without the instructors permission. So out of the 28 that started we have 22 that will be going on to the second semester!

We started out with 73, are now done to 68 or 69...I'm pretty sure that number will get smaller, b/c at midterm we had 15 students who were not going to make it if their grades didnt improve, and we still have a test and a final to go yet....plus I think we will lose a couple who were just sticking out the semester.......

We had 95 and now we only have 82..we lost 13 in our first semester!

We lost 12 out of 45 ... including the six other guys (leaving me!) When the 1st semester A&P grades get out there may be more ...

We lost 4 out of 36. One dropped out right after the second exam and the other 3 failed.

Out of our original group of 27 we have 9. ( we started last August 2003) With one semester to go we just lost 2 more in OB. Which by this time it feels terrible to lose someone. You never know for sure if you are going to make it until the very end.

I don't know. We started with 144 total in the day and evening programs, and I know we've lost a couple since Sept. Anyone that does not pass Nsg 101 with an 80% (our cutoff for failing), flunks out. They can either repeat NEXT Sept. (only offered 1x/year) or.......change majors??? It will be interesting, and sad, to see how many move on. From the sound of everyone else's programs, it sounds like at least 10-15% don't make it. I know a couple of people that need to get 100% on the final to pass by the skin of their teeth. I think that happening is unlikely. :o

I know we lost one at least. Sad, too....she was a really nice gal with some odds stacked against her. She was pregnant, (baby born the day we went on Thanksgiving break) and was having difficulties before that.

Don't know if there are any others.

I'm no longer standing. I failed my Fundamentals class by ONE FREAKING POINT! So I guess I'm going to have to wait until next year to take it. I'll proably still take an Anatomy class this semester to prepare me for the RN program. I'm also debating on whether to change my major to Diagnostic Imaging (Rad Tech) because that's something else that I've thought about doing in the past. So I'll have to wait and see what's in store for me. I just want to say congratulations on everyone who passed and good luck!

Our class lost 1 and senior class lost 5 which means we gain those 5.
