I don't know if there has been a post like this before, but I am starting a new one:) My school is like a war zone. There are casualties left and right. 2 students got booted in just the past week. The most recent was today(didn't pass the math)It's weird....everything always seems fine in classes until the end of a semester. In the last few weeks it seems that students start dropping like flies. Why is that? We started out with 8 males in our class, and now we are down to 3. Our class is beginning to look like a ghost town...Good thing: we get more 1 on 1 time w/our instructors. Bad thing: I miss my former classmates. So, how many students are still standing in your class?
well I am in 3rd year (so semester 5 is done in a week) We started with i thin 46, now we have 32. The last person we lost last semester, before summer. I hope no one else leaves or fails. Anyhow, overall not too bad. Some quit, changed schools or failed out.
Anyhoot, good luck to all of you and congrats on another successful semester!
B :)
We started with the original 60 of us, and out of those 60, there are maybe 20 of those "original 60" standing now at the end of the two years. We are graduating with 43, so there are 23 other students who started before us, were held back, and are graduating with us now.
In our personal clinical group, we started with 9 and are down to 4!!!!!
im at the END of third semester (yay). at the beginning of 1st semester, we had about 80. several dropped first few weeks, some at drop day, etc. end of second semester was bad. about 16 failed the final exam. picked up some repeaters and LPN transfer students(lpn to rn) and started 3rd sem w/ a bit more than 60. have lost 6 of the lpn transfers, and a few of the originals, too. but, our exam is next monday, so there is still the potential to lose more.
oy!

I'm getting ready to head into my last semester of school and we started the semester with 79 (including 13 that returned from last year). We just took our final yesterday (what a disaster of a day...woke up late and was 30 min late!). I think I did OK (would have to miss 50/100 to fail) but I know of a lot of ppl are on the line. I guess we will find out in Jan how many made it through, as this is our weeding out semester...we started with almost 100 in Aug '03 and only ~65 of us from back then started this semester. Very sad when you think about it....one of my good friends and study partners may not make it but I'm praying for her!
It looks like we will keep everyone else, as there was no one in danger of failing up to finals time!
How do you guys know this? Honestly, with the exception of a few friends that I sit next to, I have NO IDEA how well others are doing. The only suggestion of an inkling we get about other people's grades is when we see our test scores, we also see the class average. Our class average seems to be around a mid-to-high B, but I suppose there could be one or two people who are doing really poorly.
So I was just wondering if all the students' grades are posted at your school, or how you know whether or not anyone is at risk of flunking out.
We have a rather large class--somewhere around 115-120. I'll be anxious to see how many remain after finals next week. Our Nursing grades are always posted after each quiz or exam by our student number--so while we don't know what names go with the grades; we can see how many students are falling below passing. There are about 40 students (out of 60) failing A&P--not me, thakfully!
They say there will be no curve; but I can't imagine the Nursing Administration would let that many students fail. The prof is a jerk, btw, and I'm praying the rumor is true that he isn't returning next semster!!!

well, besides the class average that we see on Blackboard when we look up our grades online, people talk. people talk a lot. people find out what their friends got, they tell other people who tell other people. our grades were just posted this morning from our test, and i know how 10 other people did. but, i only actually heard it from 4 of them. the other 6 were just gossip, hearing who got what.
I think we only lost 2 this semester. But, we actually gained 8 new students from the previous semester! (I don't see how they all failed!)
I feel a little bad talking about it...but we do too. Everyone knows what everyone made on their tests, and everyone knows whose failing,etc... and we all talk about who isn't returning, or who has to take over whatever class. I know if I failed, everyone would be gossiping..I hate that! We're always sad to "see someone go" though. Sounds awful to say...

We have only lost two out of 62. I have heard there are a few students who are borderline passing and we still have two more Unit Exams to go and the final. Hopefully, everyone will do okay.
