Nova Southeastern 2012 Entry Level BSN

Published

Hello everyone!

I applied to Nova's Entry Level BSN program today for Fall 2012 semester and thought it may be helpful to start up a forum.

If you are:

currently applying or plan on applying, a former applicant, a current student, I'd love to hear from you!

Has everyone finished their perquisites? Does anyone else have a not so competitive GPA (like me)? Does anyone know who is considered a competitive applicant? Where is everyone else applying?

I look forward to speaking with everyone and hopefully entering the Fall '12 class together!

KKB

if you are still waiting for an interview dont lose hope because one of my friend who is currently in the program got accepted last minute like late july! her GPA wasnt even that great. although the deadline is may 24th almost half of the students who get accepted decline thier spots and they also have waiting list :) i still believe all of us will get in

The bickering needs to stop! Novabad has every right to feel the way he does. I do believe he is a student at NOVA, and I do believe he truly regrets going to Nova, which put him/ her in a whole lotta debt. I haven't heard any NOVA nursing alum or students write on this thread or any other site about their experiences (one of the reasons why I never finished my applications to NOVA).

I am currently considering going to a community college and a 4-year private institute. If I was the responsible person I've always wanted to be, I would go to the community college because incredibly inexpensive. Though the cc program is inexpensive, it is also very difficult and no one will be there to hold my hand through the program. I have ultimately decided to go to the 4 year private school because as a student I want someone to "hold my hand" through the program. Knowing my-self, the extra resources will be greatly beneficial to me. And in my head that's why I'm paying the extra $. Now if my financial aid comes back from the private institution and my tuition isn't reduced by 50% I'm going to the community college. In the long-run going to the community college makes more business sense and is 4* the better deal. And even if I get the ADN and go back a year to finish my BSN, I've still saved a whole lot of cash.

@Novabad you made your point now stop, unless you can be more specific.

Congrats to all in getting into Nova! If you are living near the campus I strongly advise you to visit Fat Tuesday and Ft. Lauderdale Beach! It's fun!

Thanks for your understanding. To be more specific. Before I applied to Nova, I knew the tuition cost but I applied anyway because I thought that they were going to help me achieve my goal and I thought as a private school it will be easier than state schools. Everyone should understand that if you pay more you should do less efforts. I know that the nursing program is a hard program, but Nova is using this to put students out. They accept 80 students in the fort lauderdale campus, but they do not really need this amount because they do not have spots for all these students. They put an Anatomy and Physiology in order to put students out. Trust me, the tuition cost that they put online is not accurate because it will be more. They made you buy lots of books that you do not even use. A lot of people think that Broward college is harder than Nova. Trust me, it is not true. I was an honor student at broward college all semesters. That is meant, if I am telling something about education I know what I am saying. Let's do a math. The first semester will cost approximately $10,000*80 students= $800000. With this anatomy and physiology class only 40 students will move to the second semester. In the second semester, you will have 13 credits. 13 credits in nursing is like 26 credits in normal college credit. Only 20 students will move to the third semester. Overall, my point of view is that Nova do not really care about the students, they are there to make money. Besides, I was really surprise, when I noticed many professors do not even know what they are teaching ( for example: writing class APA style). If I knew or I had someone tell me how things were at Nova I would never go over there. I am an honest person because I paid almost $ 12,000 to have this information and now I am giving it for free.

I tells you in the directions, I believe, to give your entire point of view in one paragraph rather than do the introductory paragraph alone.

I think it Depends on what topic you choose but all in all it's not a long essay that you have to write.

Trust me if you want. I am a student who came from Broward College with a G.P.A of 3.91. I applied to Nova Southeastern University. I really regret to go over there. I am seeing people who are killing themselves on this website to go Nova or are crying because Nova did not call them. You better say thank you to God because you did not put an unnecessary loan on you. I think that Nova is harder than Broward College and Miami dade. And with this community schools you will be almost without debt. I understand a lot of you would like to be nurses, but be careful because in the $18 will be started $10 will be for Nova. Be careful, because they used to pay a nurse $24 per hour, but not anymore. At nova, you will find any help. It is like paying more money for more efforts. Good luck for those who do not want to listen!!!

For your information, I have alot of close friends who have graduated from NOVA, BARRY and UM...and they are happy and still going further with their education! Yes some of them have loans, but guess what so does everyone else in this country. UNFORTUNATELY not everyone has the CASH MONEY for school so they have to get money some how. I have friends in business adminstration, general college bachelors, dental school, and biology bachelors who could not pay for school out of pockets and guess what they had to get loans.

We live in the United States (la YUMA) were many immigrants and lower income people cannot afford it. You should be thankful and blessed that you have the opportunity to continue your studies whatever the case is. There are people who cant even get to where you are now. I wish i knew who you were so i can report you to the deans. You do not deserve that seat at all and with your small brain you might not even make it in life. It sucks to know that there is gonna be someone like you working as a nurse caring for patients who need the help one day.

And also, life is all about sacrifice. And by the way my friend just graduated from Barry and she is getting paid $27.00 an hour at MCH and shes getting her Doctorates in nursing online at the same time.

PEACE!

I have already a degree. But now I going for my second degree which means that I have already made it in life. I am sorry for you. I am sure that you do not have anything. Now, this is my turn to tell you that I which that you made it in life. Anyway, you are living in the united states, but you do not know the laws. I have the right to say anything that I want since that I have proof. My cousins are nurses since two years. They started $23 per hour. I am 99 percent sure that you are one of the t... working at nova. PEACE!!!

Ok why don't we take this anti-nova campaign to a new thread. Novabad you are correct, you have the right to speak your mind. Why don't you create a thread where you can give your advice and that way those who wish to read it can and those who don't do not have to. This is a thread for those WANTING to go to Nova.

i have my interview this week too ? what time is yours?

AND...by the way there are scholarships offered too. Life isnt easy.

I work at a law firm right now and Ive spoken to attorney's who are around my age 24-28 years old...and they paid average of $180,000.00-$200,000.00 in just law school loans, not to mention housing. Now, after law school graduation and boards they get paid $23.00 - $27.00 an hour and they went to law school for 3-4 years! Thats almost the same as a nurse gets paid working 3-4 days a week and these lawyers kill themselves 7 days and weekends too. I know a nurses schedule is hectic too, but look outside the box and look at other peoples scenarios regarding loans and their education.

I see these lawyers everyday going nuts, traveling everywhere, sucking up to clients etc! And they are loaded with loans but hey they are working, professionals who will grow to becoming better attorneys in the long run and open their firms.

NOVA offers other programs like dental, medical school etc. So having a job right after your BSN in just two years is great!!! You get your foot in the door and get experience. I know a close friend of mine also who is a great nurse who worked as a nurse for 5 years while getting her Masters/Doctorates at FIU and she got into University of Miami's medical school without a problem. Be thankful!!!!

Well i am assuming your "previous degree" did not help so your in NOVA now lol. That sucks to know...it isnt all about money its about liking what you do.
