Nova Southeastern 2012 Entry Level BSN

Published

Hello everyone!

I applied to Nova's Entry Level BSN program today for Fall 2012 semester and thought it may be helpful to start up a forum.

If you are:

currently applying or plan on applying, a former applicant, a current student, I'd love to hear from you!

Has everyone finished their perquisites? Does anyone else have a not so competitive GPA (like me)? Does anyone know who is considered a competitive applicant? Where is everyone else applying?

I look forward to speaking with everyone and hopefully entering the Fall '12 class together!

Ok why don't we take this anti-nova campaign to a new thread. Novabad you are correct, you have the right to speak your mind. Why don't you create a thread where you can give your advice and that way those who wish to read it can and those who don't do not have to. This is a thread for those WANTING to go to Nova.

PREACH IT!!!! :heartbeat

AND...by the way there are scholarships offered too. Life isnt easy.

I work at a law firm right now and Ive spoken to attorney's who are around my age 24-28 years old...and they paid average of $180,000.00-$200,000.00 in just law school loans, not to mention housing. Now, after law school graduation and boards they get paid $23.00 - $27.00 an hour and they went to law school for 3-4 years! Thats almost the same as a nurse gets paid working 3-4 days a week and these lawyers kill themselves 7 days and weekends too. I know a nurses schedule is hectic too, but look outside the box and look at other peoples scenarios regarding loans and their education.

I see these lawyers everyday going nuts, traveling everywhere, sucking up to clients etc! And they are loaded with loans but hey they are working, professionals who will grow to becoming better attorneys in the long run and open their firms.

NOVA offers other programs like dental, medical school etc. So having a job right after your BSN in just two years is great!!! You get your foot in the door and get experience. I know a close friend of mine also who is a great nurse who worked as a nurse for 5 years while getting her Masters/Doctorates at FIU and she got into University of Miami's medical school without a problem. Be thankful!!!!

I am a member of Phi Theta Kappa. They do not give any scholarships for the nursing program. I have been told that they only give Phi Theta Kappa scholarship and other scholarships to all other programs, but not the nursing program. The only scholarship that I am not sure that they give to the students at kendall campus is the Baptist scholarship. I do not even think that it is available anymore because of the economy situation.

Well i am assuming your "previous degree" did not help so your in NOVA now lol. That sucks to know...it isnt all about money its about liking what you do..

Now, I am paying out of my pocket. If my previous degree did not help me how could I find almost $10,000 each semester to pay nova. Don't you know if you have already a bachelors degree in this country you will not be qualified for any financial for another one. I would like to know which school you studied at. When I come from work, I am doing nothing at home. I love to study. it is for that I choose to go for something else. Besides, don't you know when you keep doing the same thing everyday, you will get bored.

so Novabad your saying that everyone gets into Nova because they want your money??

so novabad your saying that everyone gets into Nova because they want your money?

My words make sense, but yours not. Listen to me, I work hard for my money which means that I have the rights to be cheap. Because in this country when someone does not have money, this person can't go ask anybody else because they will not listen to him/her. But I am not frustrated, broke and miserable.

Hi, I am currently a 6th semester student at Nova's kendall campus due to graduate in December of this year. First of all, I would like to agree with novabad. He/she is absolutely right, nova is not for those students who likes to have their education handed to them on a silver platter. The professors will not give you an the answers or guarantee you an A. These professors are highly qualified and will not settle for anything less than 100%. So if you are one of those students who have coasted throughout your education and use to getting all the answers and questions that will be on an exam DO NOT GO TO NOVA! This school is not for you. For the other students who are willing to give it their all and learn from some of the most qualified and competent instructors, this is an excellent school and you will enjoy every moment. The course material is very hard but not impossible. With that said, please don't forget that we are in a field where people's lives are at stake and in our hands. Would you want your family member cared for by a nurse who you know does not give it her all or is not comperent? I have nothing but respect for the other nursing programs so my point is not to downgrade another program. What I am getting to is that your argument against nova is only based on the cost comparison. MDC is a great program but you are really comparing apples to oranges. See, that's the beauty about having so many different programs, there will be something for everyone. It's up to the consumer to make an INFORMED decision about which program best fits their needs. Ok that was my two cents on the matter. On a lighter note, good luck everyone who is waiting and no matter which program you end up in, enjoy the journey and try to learn as much as you can.

Well Novabad if people want to pay that much for Nova thats their problem as long as we graduate with a bachelors in Nursing thats all that matters so dont worry about it.

so Novabad your saying that everyone gets into Nova because they want your money??

They will keep lying to you from the beginning to the end if you can make it at the end.

What do you mean if I can make it to the end?? I will make to the end..

They will keep lying to you from the beginning to the end if you can make it at the end.

Thank you so much for your advise and suggestions!!!

You are absolutely right! Nothing in life is easy and I have heard great things from NOVA whether its their nursing program or others. One of my bosses is a law school grad from NOVA and other people who i know they say great things about the school. Your getting your moneys worth. Im glad you are on the border of finishing and Im sure you will be a GREAT Registered nurse in the work field. Hang in there and good luck! :nurse:

First of all, I have full respect for you. But you must understand that If you pay more you should do less efforts. That is the purpose of a private school if you did not know that before. They keep saying that they are there for the students success, but it is not true. By the way, I am in Fort lauderdale campus I do not know lots of things about kendall campus, but I heard because of lots of spanish students things are easier and it is in a spanish area. And besides, they accept less students. Maybe in your campus you have all the best qualified professors, but in Fort lauderdale no. Besides, spanish always help their other spanish race.
