I have an issue and I'm afraid it may become a problem. I have four young kids, my class and instructors know. I was sent home sick one day from clinicals and I guess my clinical instructor sat down the group and told them they all need to support me and hold me up. She told them how much she respected me for going through nursing school with four young kids and that if they believe in prayer, to pray for me. It went on and on. Great, I'm glad she cares about me. My problem is, I don't want my class or my clinical group to get upset with me or think I'm getting special treatment. I have four young kids, yes, but it's my normal. I'm use to four kids, I'm doing fine and don't need everyone to rally around me and give me special treatment. I'm not mad, or even upset, just worried. I don't want it to become a problem later on. Do I say anything to my instructors or just let it go and hope it eases up?

I think you may be over thinking this. The instructor was making sure your classmates were aware that teamwork and support is an important part of the Nursing Profession.. special treatment us if you don't make up your clinicals or she gives you points that is not privileged to the other students.

I'd let it go. Obviously someone passed on to you what happened. I'd accept the concern, say thanks and just go on as before. You didn't ask for special treatment, aren't expecting it, and unless anything more gets said or done.... let it go.
Sounds like you were a bit embarrassed, so would I be; but don't let it get blown out of proportion.

I strongly advise you not to say anything to your instructor, unless it's a simple thank you. To you it might not be a big deal to let her know you don't need everyone praying for you, but to her it could come off as disrespectful. Look on the bright side, you've got an instructor who has your back and supports you, many other nursing students are facing the opposite situation with their instructors.

Another vote for let it go.

Perhaps the person who relayed the message to you blew it out of proportion? I would also not worry about it. Sounds like she is a compassionate instructor and nurse.

Just let it go. (if you do get a little special treatment - kiss it up to god...every little bit helps)

I would make it a point to be up on my "game" and do well at clinical or in class, to demonstrate to everyone that the concern is unnecessary, if that is how you feel. Actions speak louder than words! Although it sounds embarrassing, I agree that it's great to know you have a supportive instructor, and consider yourself lucky.
Thanks for the advice. I do NOT let my family life interfere with school work. I'm not getting A's but I'm getting high B's. I pull my weight and I don't use my kids as an exscuse like some students do (which is why I was worried people would lump me in with them). I'll let it go! Oh, and I do really appreciate her attitude, I don't want anyone to think I don't. Just I have another 2 years to spend with these people, I don't want it to be miserable.

Sounds like you've got a great instructor! Don't kick her! She could be the exact opposite. I had one that hated kids and men. If you ever had a child home sick, you'd better lie. She would be relentless. You are so blessed with yours. :redbeathe
