  1. My computer turned off at 85 questions. After an hour I got a pop saying my results were on hold, 3 hours later I got the "good pop up". I called my BON to see if my results were released (they were). I did the rapid results today, I'm beyond ecstatic to tell you that the trick worked!! I'm an RN!! Congrats to all of you who got the "good pop up", I'm sure you'll all be celebrating soon enough!!
  2. "Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Another registration cannot be made at this time." Is that a good pop up??
  3. I went to college right out of high school, messed around (just stopped showing up) and got all F's that semester. Tried 2 semesters later, found out I was pregnant and instead of withdrawing, I again, stopped going. I'm ashamed about it, but it happened. A year ago I decided to go back, again. I've changed, I'm older with children and want this more then most things I've wanted in my life. I worked hard, I got good grades and I got in my program first try. I'm now in my 2nd semester. It can be done, you can get yourself out of the mess you made when you were younger. It's hard but worth the try. Also, some schools have something you can sign to forgive your grades, but you'll have to re-take everything. I don't know the name of it, but I know some schools do it. Good luck!!!
  4. I'm full time in an ADN program. 2nd semester. School 4 days a week. Monday, 9-11 med surg F&E. 12-3 on campus clinicals Tuesday 9-11 med surg F&E. 12-3 on campus clinicals Wednesday 9-11 med surg Diabetes. 12-4 pharm. Thursday 9-11 med surg Diabates 12-3 on campus clinicals This is my schedule until May, then clinicals will start and we will go 20hrs a week (2 days a week) and only have 4 hours of pharm on Wed. 3rd semester will be 3 10hr days of clinicals and 2 7hr days of class. I'm married have four young kids 8 and under. I study around 5 hrs. a night. I wish I could do more, but after getting dinner and baths, kids hw done and check on the cattle, 5 hrs. is all I can do. Every other weekend my kids go to their grandparents and spend the weekend there so I can get a good amount of studying in. If I have a big test, they go more often to give me more time. My husband drives over the road, so I have to depend on them.
  5. Thanks for the advice. I do NOT let my family life interfere with school work. I'm not getting A's but I'm getting high B's. I pull my weight and I don't use my kids as an exscuse like some students do (which is why I was worried people would lump me in with them). I'll let it go! Oh, and I do really appreciate her attitude, I don't want anyone to think I don't. Just I have another 2 years to spend with these people, I don't want it to be miserable.
  6. I have an issue and I'm afraid it may become a problem. I have four young kids, my class and instructors know. I was sent home sick one day from clinicals and I guess my clinical instructor sat down the group and told them they all need to support me and hold me up. She told them how much she respected me for going through nursing school with four young kids and that if they believe in prayer, to pray for me. It went on and on. Great, I'm glad she cares about me. My problem is, I don't want my class or my clinical group to get upset with me or think I'm getting special treatment. I have four young kids, yes, but it's my normal. I'm use to four kids, I'm doing fine and don't need everyone to rally around me and give me special treatment. I'm not mad, or even upset, just worried. I don't want it to become a problem later on. Do I say anything to my instructors or just let it go and hope it eases up?
  7. Do they give you supplies to take home and practice with? If not, if you're not feeling sure, let them know. Ask for some supplies to take home and practice with. If you do break sterile technique, if you tell them will they let you start over again? If we were to break sterile technique and catch ourselves we get to start again. I would really practice as much as you're allowed during labs/sims lab. Before I start a check off, I go over it out loud with a friend, have someone whose checked off watch me and double check my technique.
  8. I'm in "the top school for ADN" in my state. 500 applicants, 38 accepted, were down to 31 now. My first test I had a 89, then my next one was a 93 ( I was so excited) and my test last week was 86. We have another exam this friday and next, hopefully I can stay in the upper 80's +. I'm totally fine being a B student in nursing school!
  9. I'm right there with you. I have 4 kids and we went through hell for the first 4 weeks. They still act up every so often. My oldest is 7 and she threw tantrums like you wouldn't believe. I have had many nights where I stayed awake crying, wondering if my dreams was ruining my family. I have toyed with quiting school and going back to being a stay at home mom, but things are slowly coming around. I get a lot of help from my babysitter and mom. My mom takes my kids once a month for the weekend to give them a break and let them just relax. I don't know how old your kids are, but I sat down with my oldest and tried as best as I could to explain why I was going to school. Then I promised her (and so far have kept to it) once a month we will do something just me and her (and the other kids at other times). It can be just a walk, a drive, even a picnic. Something that I can give her 100% of my attention and love, that REALLY helped.
