I scheduled my NCLEX-RN for September 8th, and I'm halfway through my Kaplan book (plan to take all the tests), and I plan to look at Saunders and LaCharity book too... as well as ATI's if I have time.
We all just got our ATTs via email today so everyone for the most part scheduled their test date.
There are a few people that are taking it really soon, and they all said they haven't reviewed a thing. One is taking it on Monday and a couple other are going next Thursday. Have any of you who have taken it not studied for this exam and passed? I just feel scared to take this exam without preparing somewhat. I feel like I've forgotten all this pharm and procedures and stuff. So I need to study and do questions.

people like that most of the time tend to fail. I say prepare well for the exam. The questions are quite difficult, and kaplan was the program that had the most challenging questions-- not straight forward like the exam--

do about 4000 questions.. and you will get the idea on how to answer them.. those people that are taking the NCLEX right away are really smart or really crazy.. you have to prepare...
That's my plan... I'm doing so many questions a day, and it came out to over 4000. So I hope it helps!!!

To each his own.....everyone deals with test preparation differently.
However, I will say that due to the (shall I say) uniqueness of NCLEX questions, a certain amount of practice in determining the thought process behind the question is undoubtedly a good thing. Some nursing schools prepare you for the thought process better than others. If you're from a school that did not prepare you very well, your fellow students who didn't take the time to take practice exams may be in for a rude awakening.

I am definitely not recommending this but I did not prepare and I passed.... got 80 questions. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that I had just graduated a month earlier, but the only thing I really did was maybe 100 questions on the Saunders CD a couple days beforehand.. Good luck to you!

I didn't study. I did do NCLEX-type questions in preparation for every test in nursing school, but I didn't study for NCLEX. Graduated in May, took it in July and passed with 75 questions in about 35 minutes. ymmv.

I graduated in May. Took the test in early June. I didn't study. I passed.
Just do what you need to feel prepared. Everyone is different.

Everyone is different, but just FYI (and it'll differ depending on state and pay)...our school sent us out a break down of what you lose when you fail and have to retest (as motivation to fully prepare) With the wait time, and RN wages lost- you lose out on appx $2000 when you have to retake the NCLEX (wages lost and retesting fees)...
Decide for yourself if it's worth it. Personally, I decided it was worth it to over-prepare than to have to inform my employer that I could not start due to having to retest.
