Northeastern Direct Entry Fall 2022

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone! I submitted my application for Northeastern's Direct Entry Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program. I was just thinking this could be a great space to provide updates, give each other tips, and ask any questions about the process. I know it is very nerve-wracking so this could be a great space. Please respond and we can get in touch on here or LinkedIn. Hope to hear from you all!

Hey! I haven’t heard anything yet and actually emailed the person who interviewed me. She said decisions may actually be out from December 1 by next Monday or Tuesday. Hope that helps!

Perfect, thanks so much for letting me know! I really hope it'll be today!

Hi! I actually just received my acceptance to my email this morning! So excited ☺️ I hope you find out today as well!

I applied November 1 and have not heard anything yet. Should I be worried?

I applied to the PMHNP speciality and praying I get accepted. Can people who have already been admitted share their stats?

Hi! I applied late in the Summer, interviewed on November 22 and received my admission decision on November 24. I applied to the FNP speciality. Northeastern is definitely a top contender for me so I am excited about the admit! My undergraduate GPA is 3.72 (health science and biology) and I am a certified nursing assistant and have experience working as a patient care associate for about 10 months during undergrad working 24hr/week shifts at a major Boston hospital on a cardiac care unit. I also have experience working at a major Boston hospital as a clinical research intern working on chronic pain studies. During undergrad, I also interned at a community health center for about 6 months working as a health promotion intern focusing on social determinants of health. Since graduating from undergrad in 2020 I have about 1.5 years of experience working as a clinical research coordinator on chronic pain studies and have 2 scientific publications. My letters of recommendation are from a physician who is my current supervisor, my previous nurse manager, and an undergrad professor in public health.

OMG congrats!! That's amazing, I am still waiting so hopefully soon! Do you know if they are currently on break? If so, I know I won't hear back until January then.

Hi!

I emailed because I received two acceptances to other schools. I have to make a decision for mid-January. They don’t get back from break until Jan 3rd, 2022. But they should be reviewing us late applicants. Also, my friend received a rejection letter from them this past week and submitted her app on December 1st. I feel like not hearing from them right now is a plus!

So excited you received an acceptance! I see you commented on the UVM post. I was also accepted to UVM. I was wondering how you feel about the UVM program?

Hi there! Congrats on UVM! I'm leaning more towards Northeastern or potentially a few of the programs I am still waiting to hear back from at the moment honestly more due to geographic location- my family lives around the Boston area and I went to undergrad in Boston and I would prefer to be there rather than Burlington but I am still considering all my options. I have a close friend who is currently in the FNP program at Northeastern and they are building a lot of good connections at their clinical placements that they may want to pursue as post grad jobs when they graduate in the Spring which is also a major factor for me as I am planning on staying in MA long term. Best of luck to you in the decision! Both programs are great and would definitely be amazing opportunities which is why I find myself on the fence at the moment haha

Did she receive an actual letter or was it an email?

I just asked her. She told me it was a letter when she called me (she was very upset because it was the only program she applied to), but it was actually an email. She received the email on Thursday.

We live in Watertown, so I completely agree with the sentiment of staying close to home. I am a senior and I currently to school in Easton, MA, and I don’t want to leave MA either. I’m very impressed with the program and it is very great that she has access to all of those connections! I hope I hear something great from Northeastern because it is definitely my first choice and I can save money since I am close to campus. Thanks for your input and I’m so happy you received an acceptance ?

My friend has had so many interesting and diverse clinical placements while in the program at Northeastern so it's definitely a top choice for me- best of luck with the admissions! I'm sure it will pick up after the holidays and I hope you get the good news soon!

Congrats to everyone who has been accepted so far!!?

I have a question. I saw in previous forums that some applicants are not accepted into the Direct Entry MSN program, but instead are re-directed to the ABSN program because their application was still considered strong. Does anyone know if the ABSN program is any good in case this ends up happening? I have heard mixed reviews. Just wanted to hear your thoughts while we continue waiting. ?
