  1. I am a current MDE student and I have to say that I don't agree with you. I'm sorry to hear that your experience was not good, but this is definitely not representative of the program. When looking at the cost breakdown across similar accelerated nursing programs in NYC, Columbia is actually one of the more affordable options for someone wanting to receive an M.S. on an accelerated 15-month track (ex: cheaper than NYU's ABSN program and you are only receiving a BSN, not M.S.). Also, before someone tries to say getting your M.S. over a BSN is pointless, majority of hospitals in the NYC area actually give a bonus to new nurses who 1.) Graduated from Columbia and 2.) Have an M.S. over a BSN (about a $10k annual salary difference btw). This is coming from having conversations with other nurses and also having friends who just got new job offers from the previous cohort. To add to my previous point, Columbia faculty has also sat down and reviewed tuition costs in comparison to other Ivy League accelerated nursing programs (ex: UPenn, Yale, and also Hopkins) and Columbia still remains the more affordable option, not to mention they offer the most financial aid assistance and scholarships out of all nursing schools. NY is an expensive place to live, however, this is something I am sure you all took into consideration when applying. If the NYC housing cost and lifestyle is what deters you from proceeding with the program then that is 100% understandable. But the MDE program itself is very well structured, challenging, and has honestly really prepared me to sit for the NCLEX. Columbia has an amazing NCLEX pass rate as well (~95%) which is something you all should consider when deciding where to go. The simulation lab is truly impeccable and the instructors I have had are a fountain of knowledge and will help guide you at any given moment. Also, Columbia was just ranked #1 for NIH Funding out of all nursing schools and I don't know about you all, but I love knowing that I attend an institution that is dedicated to research and improving health outcomes. I know this decision is a big one and you should definitely take the time to weigh your pros/cons, but please do not let someone's negative experience make that decision for you. You honestly get what you put into the program and that is the case regardless of where you end up going. Congratulations to everyone who got accepted! You should be incredibly proud of yourself for this accomplishment and welcome to the Columbia nursing family! ❤️
  2. Hello everyone! Best of luck to you all throughout the application process. I am a current MDE student and am here if any of you need advice or have questions regarding your application. Don't hesitate to reach out! ?
  3. Best of luck to you on your application! I am a current MDE student and would love to provide you with some insight on how I used the optional essay. I believe this essay is reserved to discuss or further elaborate on something you felt you did not have the opportunity to do in the rest of the application. I took this essay as an opportunity to discuss how my hardships impacted my undergraduate performance and ultimately my cumulative GPA. Let me mention that my cumulative GPA was a 2.93! So for anyone thinking they cannot apply because their GPA might not be competitive, here is your sign to APPLY! Your cumulative GPA is not reflective of who YOU are and I finished the first semester here at Columbia making Dean's List with a 3.8 so that just goes to show you that your undergraduate GPA does not define your intelligence. Best of luck to you throughout your application and please feel free to reach out to me at ANY time as I am more than happy to help!! ?
  4. I got in! ? But I will not be accepting my spot as I have already committed to attend Columbia for their MDE program. Best of luck to you all and hopefully our paths cross in the future! ❤️
  5. Congrats to everyone who has been accepted!!? I emailed (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) earlier today asking if decisions are still being released and he said that the SON and the Graduate Division are still working on releasing decisions. Now I am not sure if that means more acceptances/waitlists are going to be released, but I do think that it is a bit disrespectful on UCLA's part to leave the remaining applicants hanging and wondering about their status over the weekend, especially if it is a rejection. Regardless, I think I will be accepting my spot at Columbia and I wish you all the very best in your nursing endeavors! Hopefully some day we will cross paths!❤️
  6. I think the decisions are just being released slowly. I wouldn't panic or worry just yet! Best of luck to everyone!
  7. Hi everyone! I also applied to Pace for Fall 2022. I submitted my application on January 10th and I am eagerly waiting to hear back! I was recently accepted to Johns Hopkins direct entry MSN program and Columbia's MDE program, however, I believe Pace's ABSN program is more affordable so I would definitely love to have it as an option. Congrats to everyone who has been accepted already, that is amazing!! ?
  8. My letter was just my acceptance with the information for orientation and hybrid admitted students events. It mentions that the Office of Financial Aid should be contacting us within 10-15 days and I'm sure all of our financial aid information will be shown to us then!
  9. I applied to Northeastern's direct entry MSN (re-directed to their ABSN program), Emory's MN Entry (waitlisted), Johns Hopkins direct entry MSN (accepted), UCLA's MECN (waiting), Pace's ABSN (waiting), Duke's ABSN (waiting)
  10. I just created a facebook group for accepted MDE students. I am so excited to meet you all! ? (please let me know if the link works LOL) Link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/538325610562597
  11. There is an opportunity for MDE students to apply/enroll in the DNP program during the last semester of the program (I believe), but I am uncertain if this would shorten the DNP program? I would imagine it would only take 1-1.5 year(s) to complete the DNP portion after completing the MDE portion. I was going to apply to the FNP specialty for DNP but decided I wanted to play it safe and just do the MDE for now, so I will definitely be looking into joining the DNP portion if I am allowed and doing well in the program!
  12. For the January 15th deadline, their website says decisions are released some time in early March! ? Best of luck to you!
  13. I think this is something that happens to your portal sometimes when you open an acceptance letter or something. Basically just confetti flying all over your screen haha
