Congrats to all of us that were accepted to the nursing program at either campus for Fall '06!!!!

:balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons:

I'm going to be at the NLC campus! See you in June for orientation!

Also, congrats for making it to the next semester to all new 2nd - 4th semester NLC/ECC student nurses & congrats to the graduates! :balloons:

Good luck to everyone!

Congratulations everyone!

Jaxia- I would still apply for the Fall of next year which I think is February when you apply. The competition constanly changes and you never know. Once you're in the program, everyone couldn't care less whether you got in the 1st time you applied or if you got in your 5th time you applied...you will have more things to worry about than that petty mess hahaha I know you won't but I have to say it- DON'T GIVE UP!

congratulations guys,

guess no one likes El Centro anymore, lol .I Hope Jaxia , that you still will get some good news despite your bad feelings. Don't give up.

This is awful! It didn't come in the mail yesterday either! This has been a really long weekend.

My NET scores were both in the 90s. But, I didn't have a 4.0 on my 9 hours of support classes, so I didn't get to the tiebreaker. But, knowing that they had to go to the NET scores, that tells me that there are more people ahead of me than I hoped.

If it doesn't work out, I'll just take Micro, Chemistry and Nutrition in the Spring (and probably some other class for full time), since I eventually want to get my BSN. I was really disappointed when I first saw the scores, but everyone is right -- everything happens for a reason. And I learned a hard lesson from dropping A&P II in the summer instead of taking the C or B.

Thanks everyone for all the wishes -- it really helps! :)

Congrats to all who are in for Spring!! Jaxia keep your spirits up - and keep working forward. We have 2 girls who are in the program and taking Micro this semester. They are so stressed out with having to study for their Micro tests in addition to our check-offs and lecture tests! I'm so stressed already that I could not even imagine having the stress of taking ANY of the support classes - not even in the summer or Christmas breaks. So take those classes now and get them out of the way - this program is way too stressful to have to take any other classes too!!

Hey you NL students - what was your class average for Test 2? This time I did better but our class average was lower. But this time I studied NCLEX questions from every source that I could get my hands on and it helped me more than anything else that I did to study. However, how can anyone truly study and know all the information for a test over 28 chapters and around 600 pages of text!?!?!?!?

So I guess we'll all be at the Mock Trial tomorrow!!! Be safe getting there in the rain in the a.m. rush hour.

Dream,

That's great that you found a method that helped you get a better test score this time. I have talked to a couple of students (1 in 4th semester and 1 just graduated) and they both said study NCLEX style questions from several sources. What sources did you use? Did you read the textbook also or what?

We don't know the class average yet. I made an 82, but there are a few questions that I know I got right (according to the book), but were marked wrong on the test. So, I'm going to print out the reference and give it to the instructor for reconsideration. I hope to bring it up to an 86 at least.

From what I heard, this test seemed to have more grades in the 70s than test 1. I made 88 on test 1.

Definitely study NCLEX questions, you have to pay for MedsPub....so use it to answer questions too.

I have a Saunder's and a Made Incredibley Easy that I answer related NCLEX questions from, as well as answer the questions from the book's CD.

We actually had 29 chapters, I believe. We had ch. 24 thrown in too.

Test 3 material is not so bad 'chapter-wise', but the chapters are so long....there like never-ending!!!!!!

Fun,

Are you reading the textbook or just studing your lecture notes and the NCLEX questions from all your sources? Which "Made Incredibly Easy" do you have? I saw "NCLEX RN Questions & Answers Made Incredibly Easy" and "NCLEX-RN Review Made Incredibly Easy" on Amazon.com and am deciding which 1 to get (or to get both).

Good job on your test. Hopefully, you can get those extra points you are seeking.

I have the 'Questions & Answers', and the Saunders that I have is the Q&A Review for the NCLEX-RN Examination'. Other people bought the other Saunders book, I think it's a Comprehensive review or something like that.

I like mine, but really haven't looked at theirs. :) I think any/all would help.

I bought the Made Incredibly Easy on Ebay, but the Saunders new.

As far as reading, I did actually "READ" the first 3 chapters for the 1st test. One lady in my clinical group said she filled out the Study Guide as she went through, and she thought it helped her retain more than just reading.

So I went back and did that for those 3 chapters, and I've been doing that ever since. So, yes and no about reading. I kind of skim over the paragraphs until I come to my next topic to fill in the blanks on the Study Guide.

For the first two tests it has proven to be good enough. Yes, I'd rather an A on my exams, but really to balance it all (lecture/skills lab class time, reading for lecture, skills lab reading, studying/practicing for skills check-offs, going to open lab time, family stuff, and drive time, etc), I'm happy to pass the tests with 80 somethings! :D

On another note, I recommend taking a deep breath before you start the exam & try to relax your mind. (This is the time to say a quick silent prayer as well.) :chuckle Have a positive attitude before you start that test. .....and whatever you do, DON'T CHANGE YOUR ANSWERS unless you are 100% positive you marked the wrong one!!!!

I would have had a 90 at least had I not second-guess myself, and possibly a 94 with the two questions I'm going to show the instructor documentation on for reconsideration. :uhoh3: SO, again....GO WITH YOUR GUT FEELING!

Oh goodness!

Well, I still say, if you can't get in for Spring '07, make sure to have Micro & A&P 2 out of the way.

You will be glad hindsight. I couldn't imagine having to do Micro right now, and I feel sorry for those who are!!!!!!
