Congrats to all of us that were accepted to the nursing program at either campus for Fall '06!!!!

I'm going to be at the NLC campus! See you in June for orientation!
Also, congrats for making it to the next semester to all new 2nd - 4th semester NLC/ECC student nurses & congrats to the graduates! :balloons:
Good luck to everyone!
It's great that you are doing sterile dressing changes. I am so behind with my skills in clinical. Last week I picked a pt with diabetes so I could give her a lot of insulin shots. It turned out that she had an insulin pump, she did everything by herself.
Anyway, today we went to see Bodyworlds and it was great. We saw the IMAX movie, too. I think the Dallas and microchip ad in the beginning is more interesting than the movie.
Tomorrow we are in FairPark for a free health screening/community service. I heard that some 2nd semester students will be there, too. So I might see some of you.

I went to a CPR class tonight in Rowlett offered by Lake Pointe Hospital. Well, its FREE, yes I said FREE, for nursing students!!! I ran into a 2nd semester student there which was kind of nice. So, if anyone needs to update or is soon expiring, let me know and I'll give you the phone number to schedule it. Hope everyone is doing fantastic!!!!
Ok guys.... check-offs didn't go well AGAIN! I can almost safely say MOST did NOT pass the IM check-off the first time. It's not the skill (point, shoot) lol, it's the whole thing together.
Are we not given enough time to practice? Are we given less time than last semester? Are we given too much paperwork to have enough time to practice and study for the exams? (Which by the way, was not soley on the powerpoints....not even close!)
I'm getting really scared about the final check-off. So much rides on a 1 credit class.
I did a stupid mistake....my mind just went blank. (Coudn't think as to what to round meds dosage to.) DUH!
After that little episode, I would have had plenty of time., but I didn't realize my needle was loose. So....I kept loosing bits of "MIXTURE" when trying to get my Phenergan out of the ampule!!!!!!!
Dear God! How much can one handle? I can now realize why people say you loose some of the best "TO BE" nurses d/t the stresses of school.
I know that many of us are capable, and would be great nurses. Sorry to say, not all of us will make it to prove it.
Very sad.....you get compliments from nurses on how well you are doing things WITH PATIENTS, but you screw up at school.
God knows I am not an actress, and I can't play one in nursing school.
Test 1 class average: 75.33!
I made a 74. This isn't funny!
Mrs. E, my clinical instructor is telling us, "No one knows how to write a careplan."
I knew this semester was hard, but this has started out as a semester from hades!
I don't even feel like studying! ....but I know I have to...so off I go. Y'all have a good evening!
Thanks, Yin Yang.
I think I'm going to go curl up with my laptop and a good beer. :roll
(Gotta work on a case study due Monday, pathos due Wednesday for Sim baby, study for lecture, study for pharm exam, and practice IM.)

I know it's tough at the beginning... but don't give up!!! You are still in this with a 74.... and from my experience... the tests get easier throughout 2nd semester.
Just a little FYI... Test 1 average for 2nd semester at THR is a 62!!!!

Do you only have one more attempt left or are you talking about the re-check offs at the end of the semester? Are you checking off with a different instructor each time? All I can suggest is to pray about it and don't let your nerves get the best of you!
-Brianna
No, this was my 1st attempt at the IM. I'm REALLY scared about the last FINAL check-off where you are only allowed 1 time!
62? OMG......this isn't right at all. There is no way on God's green earth that people didn't study their butts off for the test! WTHeck?
As for the lecture test......I still ask, "...and L&D is suppose to be the hardest?" I hate to see what the grades will look like for that one!
BTW.....:Melody: CONGRATS, MYSTERIOUS_ONE! You made a "B"! :Melody: wooohoooooooooo!!!! I think we had about 3 or 4 B's.
Reviewing for the Pharm test right now. TTYL!

OMG.....I am so tired!
Post Partum was great today. We just shadowed, but the nurse I followed was soooo helpful, nice, and loved to teach!
Now I have to finish the IV homework....that's going to take forever! Then try to get some IM practice in before bedtime!
I understand what y'all are saying. Especially when we're doing the actual "SKILL" correctly, but screwing up on the "SKIT".
