Did you do any of the study guides that pertained to the chapters to help you study?

I did use the study guides for a while but doing NCLEX type of questions helped me a lot. And now I am selling my study guides. ;)

YAWNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok....Parkland clinical orientation went well. We have to be there at 6 AM for clinicals! OUCH!

Oh well....I can do it. I'm not sure when I'll sleep, but that's a different thread. :lol2:

When passing the newborn nursery, I saw a baby boy without his diaper, and I said, "Oh...that baby hasn't had his first bowel movement yet because he doesn't have a diaper on yet." See, I have learned at least one thing so far this semester.

(I'm not sure where I learned that though.) haha

OK....time to study!

6a? I thought 6:34a was early!

On our paperwork it says 0630. Today, the instructor changed it to 0600 for whatever reason.

Yep....that's awfully early. I got up at 0430 this AM, left the hours about 5:45. After getting gasoline, and heading 20 to 35 to Shady Grove to Irving BLVD, to Inwood to Parkland, I got there about 0645. (We were suppose to be there at 0730 this AM for orientation.)

I have to leave when????????? OMG!

I definitely won't be very impressive looking! I'll go with minimal make-up, etc. I may scare the babies.

They don't put diapers on the babies till they have a bm?

I heard/read that somewhere. I can't remember where.

Fun,

You should come by and wake me up. I am not far from Shady Grove / Irving Blvd. You do probably miss alot of traffic going the way you do to Parkland.

Sorry to "butt" in, but thought I'd answer the question about the newborn and the diaper.....as a neonatal nurse at Parkland, who sometimes floats to newborn. We put diapers on the babies once they've had their first bath, which usually happens in the first couple of hours, so that was probably a very "fresh" baby! Babies usually don't start to diurese until after the first 24 hour period, although some of them will pee while on the warmer in the delivery room. Typically, the first meconium stool can take from 24 hours to 4 days to come and I assure you, they pee alot sooner!

I'm going to look for you guys while you're there for clinical.....I work every Tuesday and Wednesday, so the chances are that I'll run across you this semester. Enjoy the experience....if you don't see it at Parkland, you probably didn't look!

BATH!!! That's it!!!!!!! :lol2:

Ooops! (I knew it was something like that!)

Finallyat40...that's for nipping that in the butt....err bud. :D I go to clinical on Thursdays, but go there on Wednesdays to pick pts.

Amy...that time of AM, there's not much traffic out. haha Even leaving as early as I did yesterday, it did get a little busy right before HWY 30, though. (All those dang hospital employees clogging up the roadways.) :lol2: :lol2:

Having to be there at 6AM, it should be smooth sailing! :uhoh3:
