Congrats to all of us that were accepted to the nursing program at either campus for Fall '06!!!!

I'm going to be at the NLC campus! See you in June for orientation!
Also, congrats for making it to the next semester to all new 2nd - 4th semester NLC/ECC student nurses & congrats to the graduates! :balloons:
Good luck to everyone!
So, what about the math portion?
Easy, just know the formulas. Similar to 1st semester just add IV calculation.
Ask Ms. J. about the pharm test. I don't know when they change it to the new system when you don't have one pharm test during the semester but you have pharm questions on every lecture tests.

How do you survive 2nd semester? OMG! There are so many things thrown at you!
Apparently, out of the 4 weeks for actual hospital Pedi (not Simbaby, or SIMadolescent), I only have a pt 2 days. The other 2 days, I have to be at Scottish Rite at 3 PM for post conference. My calendar is going to look like chicken scratch! (We just found out today that our PEDI rotation is on Mondays, and we have to pick a pt on Sunday! I picked Ms. E's clinical in order to NOT have a Monday clinical in front of a Tuesday lecture on purppose!)
Oh well....such is life.
There are the math skills lab homework assignments, virtual clinicals, SIM Baby day @ ECC, SIM adolescent day @ ECC, the pharm test, the 'toy project', assignments that Ms. E. wants done, practice lab times, studying for the HESI, doing case studies...and somewhere, at sometime, squeeze in time to study for the lecture exams.
I seriously can see why it's difficult to get past 2nd semester. OK....gotta try to squeeze in that study time now.

So, you have to do virtual clinicals, too? They let us do as group project. Everybody did one chapter from my clinical group. It's was still booooooooring and makes your hand hurt.

Fun,
It was nice seeing you again today. I am so sorry that I walked right by you and didn't see you. I was in my own little world!
In 1st semster did you have a pharm test? They told us about a med list in the clinical handbook and I looked at it last night. Do we need to make flashcards about these drugs? What is the best way to go about the meds list? I feel so stupid but all this stuff is so new compare to they things we have been doing up until now and I just don't want to get behind.
Amy
lol...that's ok. I saw a familiar face, and I thought "Oh, that's Amy!"
We didn't have a "Pharm test" in 1st semester. I think it's a good idea to go ahead and make cards for all the meds though.
In 2nd semester, you're responsible for all of the meds on the pharm cards, plus all the meds from 1st semester.
I wish I had made cards for them all.

Info from drug cards is enough. She just wants you to be familiar with those drugs before you go to clinicals.
I found this on triple dye and alcohol: http://www.who.int/reproductive-health/publications/MSM_98_4/MSM_98_4_annex.en.html
I would put classification: antimicrobal, drying agent. Used for newborn cord care, SE dryness, rash, nursing action administration, observe for SE and family teaching. I am sure others can add to this, too. :)
By the way, you are very good working on these things in advance.
If you work on those questions for L&D and NB use the lecture slides to answer them. It's much faster than finding the info in the textbook.
