Hey everybody! New to the site and just finished the second semester of el centro's nursing program.......excuse me-survived second semester!!!!:jester: If anyone needs any insight to the program(s) please feel free to ask!!! Congats and good luck to you if you got in for Fall, and keep up the good work to those who are trying!!!!!

WOOHOO!! Way to go Jaxia. I know you are probably relieved about that!

Well, I pulled it off and made my 4.0 this semester, so that is a relief. Hopefully I can start right behind ya'll :)

Jaxia,

I also got my shot #1 and shot #2 at Brookhaven also and they were $32.00 each. I heard EL Centro offers all of them at a reduced rate but I don't know what the rate is. I am going to El Centro on Monday for an information session and I am going to find out what all the shots cost at El Centro. I can let you know Monday how much they are at El Centro if you'd like.

Amy

My insurance is changing, so I will not have coverage when I am supposed to get the second shot.

But, I found out today that according to my drs office new insurance wouldn't cover the second shot if it started under different insurance. So, it looks like I have to pay for it (and the 3rd) out of pocket no matter what.

Doesn't ECC offer some of the shots? Anyone know which ones and how much?

I also went to get my physical yesterday. My dr office set it up like an office visit instead of charging me for a physical. So, I just had to pay my co-pay and pay for the TB test (insurance wouldn't cover that). But, insurance is covering my Hep B, Tetorifice, and titer tests for the MMR and chicken pox. My arms hurt! :)

Does anyone know if you have to get your second Hep B shot 1 month after? Can I wait 6 weeks?

Did they take a urine sample at yours, Fun?

YAY Jaxia! That's awesome (the 4.0...not all of the shots- ouch!)! I'm always here if you need any help with anything :D Just an IM away!!

Boy that is probably the one of the BEST thing about El Centro, cheap shots at the Health Center!:lol2: (That's kinda sad and scary at the same time!)

I paid $10-$15 for all of mine.

The nurse and receptionist in the Health Center at El Centro were always so nice to me and were some of my favorite people. I hurt my back and had headaches, but they were VERY NICE and would let me sleep in the backand call up my instructor. Once she even bought me lunch from the Corner Bakery! I wonder if they are all still there???

Thanks Face and Amy :) It was a HUGE relief to see my grades, lemme tell you! I saved money and quit my job to do this full time, and I could not afford for it to take me longer to get in. I don't think I have ever put myself under so much stress!

And thank you for the offer, face -- you might wind up regretting it ;)

I'm glad to know I can get the shots so cheap. Oh, another thing about my physical -- I had to pay for the PPD test. Did you know they don't do that four little prick thing any more? I was very surprised.

Of those accepted for Fall '06, did you get a book list?

Did you ever get the book list, Fun?

Funnie- I think I heard they were changing the books for the up and coming 1st semester so maybe that is what the hold up is on your book list. Ours was in our acceptance packet and I will be more than happy to scan that to you. I just don't know what the changes were going to be....

That Dimensional Analysis book is excellent also! You and I sound very much alike with our reference material! I have subscriptions to AJN, Nursing made Easy, Nursing 2006, and I also get a magazine called Imprint which is for student nurses but it hasn't been very helpful. I have already filled my bookcase with all of the books I have :lol2: They come very much in handy!! I love any reference material I can get my hands on!

No I didn't Jaxia. I was hoping I didn't misplace it out of the packet already. :uhoh3: ....Then again, maybe I need to look through my packet again....maybe I've just forgotten what I went through 100 X. :lol2:

Allison, that's ok....As I wrote above, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't suppose to have it. lol

I still haven't ordered Nursing2006...I plan on it. My husband needs to go buy me a bookcase. :chuckle Actually, I think I may have one in storage. :lol2:

I figure even the now 'not so helpful' books/magazines may actually be what you're looking for later on down the line. So, if it's cheap, and it says buy me.....I just gotta! :chuckle (I'm not that bad...it has to look interesting.) :D

Are those magazines worth the subscription price? I don't have any yet so I've never seen a single copy of any of them.
