Published

Congrats to all of us that were accepted to the nursing program at either campus for Fall '06!!!!

:balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons:

I'm going to be at the NLC campus! See you in June for orientation!

Also, congrats for making it to the next semester to all new 2nd - 4th semester NLC/ECC student nurses & congrats to the graduates! :balloons:

Good luck to everyone!

I got Charleton. It was my first choice because I live in Cedar Hill. I saw all the orientations but I have a quick question.....I think I only saw WHERE to meet for Parkland. The others had no location. I think I have to go to ECC skills lab on day? Could that be right? I just do not understand how supplying us with information could be so difficult. Oh...one other question...the "other" fees we have to pay at the NLC cashier....Isn't is suppose to include the insurance fee? Mine has listed Med Pub Testing fee 70.00 and HESI mid-program testing fee 37.00.......no insurance amount listed!

I know I have to go to NLC for a 7 hour skills lab at NLC on Wednesday and ECC from 1:30-6 on another day, plus all the others.

I thought about putting Charlton first because of location, but I just couldn't make myself do it. I really wanted Parkland for OB/GYN.

Drive time and gas is going to suck....literally. :lol2:

The insurance is for one year, I think.

Hello Ladies (and any gentlemen that might be lurking about)!

You guys must be getting so excited. :lol2:The semester starts TUES for all of you. I know Funnie is semester 2, but where are the rest of you on this marathon?

Remember to study hard, but always take some time to relax. I am sooooo proud of you guys. You've really shown how sticking together makes the whole process less "painfully".

Have any of you taken that online Pathopysiology vlass offered hrough El Centro. It is HPRS 2201 taught online by Sharon Prentice. The class is 2 credits. I am thinking about signing up for it. Anyone have any tips??

Excited and already waylayed with all the reading assignments....and classes haven't even started yet. So much for getting the reading done before lecture. :chuckle

Ok ladies, I need some advice. Has anyone out there had to deal with Kanora much up at ECC? I'm having a very frustrating issue with her, and I don't even start classes until Tuesday. Would she be a bad one to piss off? I submitted a request for waiver on the A & P II (mine is 11 years old) back November 29. I'm requesting a waiver because I'm teaching the Saturday section of it at Brookhaven this semester. It seems stupid to me to take the class while I'm teaching it. She has never gotten back to me, I've e-mailed and called, and never gotten a response. I went up there Dec. 19, and she said she didn't have it back yet. So, I was up there today checking the schedule and stopped in and asked and she got all huffy with me and looked at me incredibly rudely and said, "I have your stuff, I told you I'd call you when I got it back and I just haven't had a chance to drop it off to the dean yet." I was so shocked, all I could say was that I need to know whether to register for the class or not and since school was starting Tuesday, that I was trying to get it done quickly. She wouldn't say anything else and just stared at me. I really wanted to go off. Any advice as to how influential she is in the program???:smiley_ab

I've never had a problem with her. In fact, she's been very helpful...at least via e-mail.

I know, for whatever reason, they have been swamped. There was one email she sent me at 7 PM at night and she was still at ECC working.

Anyway...no excuses....It seems like she really frustrated you.

I would call and leave a message with Charlotte Green. She is the Asst. Dean of the Nursing program. I got her on the phone once, by mistake though, but she was very nice and helpful.

Is that a 1st semester class, or could you possibly take it during the summer if they won't accept it? I think it would be stupid to make you take it, and teach it at the same time. :uhoh3:

I'm sorry Kathy,

for your frustration, but that's EC.......

For everyone else from EC, if they haven't been up there to look at the schedule yet, here it is.

Of course the circles are just for sec. semester.

You don't think it would be rocking the boat to e-mail the dean? I just need to know if I need to take it or not. I don't care if I do, other than the goofiness of it and the $$$. I just don't want to eternally anger her.

Take care,

I thought I replied already...maybe I did to the other thread? I'm not sure....lol

What I said either way....it may rock the boat, but the other choice is to sign up for the class and drop it if you hear otherwise. ???????

NLC SNA get together...today @ Noon T building. (I can't remember the room, buy y'all can find it.) :monkeydance:

I'll have my 15 y/o with me too. She has a 10:45 Dr's appt around the corner....no time to take her back home.

I also have to go pay my MedsPub and HESI testing fees today. (That's out of pocket....for whatever reason, my scholarship doesn't pay for it.) :(

Hey Fun,

did you ever get this resolved with you scholarship and your tuition. I finally got my little grant transferred TODAY, :uhoh3: . So much for that lady from financial aid telling me not to worry it would be paid by the third of January. Yeah right. I knew I couldn't trust that, thank God, I paid ahead with a credit card and they will transfer all this money to my checking now. So I can pay my card back. It is just all so frustrating . I wonder what people do that don't have any resources and really depend on financial aid to get their education.

Mysterious one,

Aslong as you have financial aid showing accepted at the bottom of your receipt they won't drop you!! I've been told that by a financial aid person. They actually didn't apply mine until Friday the 5th and I didn't get dropped. They even took it back and only applied payment for 1 class Monday of this week and then changed it all back Tuesday, weird I know. So next time don't worry about it, they won't drop you, ASLONG as it shows accepted at the bottom of the receipt.

Oh, well , I just got scared lol, I wish I had your faith.

But come to think of it, why did it take them till today to transfer mine??? All so weird.
