I have a rolling bag.....looks like this:

Not sure if that is the exact one. It has a place for files, laptop, a book or other, cell phone, CDs, etc.

This model can be rolled, carried by the belt-type handle seen in the pic, or the belt-type handle can be released to carry it purse-like.

I didn't bring a book really, but I did bring a notebook/binder every day, which had my book pages, clinical handbook, etc in it. It was also good for holding other things on top and rolling it all together.

There are many who do bring one, so whether or not you choose to, I doubt you'd be the only one in your class. :)

You will see this type, and the rolling back-pack type.

Anyone getting excited? :lol2:

I am :D I just wish I could figure out which rolling bag I wanted (if I even want one!) ;)

I'm excited, but I'm trying to decide if I want one of those little fanny pack type things that you can carry your scissors, pens, etc. in. Anybody use those in clinicals or see many nurses on the floor with them?

I was with one of my classmates on a postpartum floor who had this fanny pack under her top. Some nurses and even I asked her if she was pregnant. She had the pack in the front so she looked like that. :lol2: By the way, she said that she liked the pack.

I bought a pocket organizer :D

I'm chunky anyways, so I've learned to live with looking fat...lol. I was just thinking it might be easier than trying to keep up with everything in my hands...and, when I worked in veterinary, I know how bad things are to fall out of scrub pockets when you bend over and such.

I bought 2 plastic pocket protectors/organizer off of ebay. :lol2: That way I'm not so worried about pen ink, etc. :)

I also have 'key ring reel clips' for a lack of better words, off of ebay. I have one clipped to my bandage scissors, and to my plastic pocket protector/organizer.

I have a little Nike Running Wallet that I keep a bit of change in for drinks, etc, and a EL Centro ID booklet that I won with my ID's in it.

Other than that, for clinical, I only bring my storage clipboard.

If I ever become a nurse manager anywhere....every room will need a pen chained to the end of the bed or somewhere. haha I'd rather not use my pen, and if I don't have to, I don't bring my clipboard from room to room.

(Put the clipboard down, do your thing, wash your hands, pick your clipboard up, walk to the next room, put the clipboard down......etc....) YUCK!

I got the pocket organizer off allheart. I do love those little zip clip things for attaching ID cards.

I still need to get a watch with a second hand. My watch I wear all the time doesn't have a second hand.

Does your clipboard have a handle? (Did I already ask that question? Sorry if I did...)

Wal-Mart has great watches! They have one watch that has the second hand and a digital in the background and it's only $10. I bought it and have worn it ever since at the hospitals..it's a good sturdy watch...Just thought I would mention that!

I got my clip board at Majors but a girl in my group had a really thin one with a handle that she bought at Office Depot so I was thinking of that one....yes, carrying a clipboard around is really annoying and half of the time I leave it in a patient's room and have to come in and interrupt them AGAIN! I just leave it in my backpack and use it in post conference to fill in the last of the careplans in my lap while people are talking and what-not :lol2:

My clipboard does have a handle, and a calculator.

I mostly left it in the break room, but it really came in handy for paperwork to complete, extra pen, extra penlight, stuff like that. :)

I also bought my watch at Wal-mart. It is digital and analog. I have it set for digital military time. It has a seconds hand, and shows digital seconds too. It has a light button, date/stopwatch/alarm, and shows the day of the week (su, mo, tu, etc)....all for a price of $9.95. What a bargain! :lol2: :lol2: :uhoh3:

Anyway, I'd rather have the Timex indiglow...whatever it's called (whole dial glows w/o the need of pushing a button, not just the hands glowing in the dark...which my watch does too.)

Oh well....until I find that 'perfect' Timex Indeglow watch, I'll continue buying this $10 watch from Wal-mart that is also water-proof. :D
