north harris comunity college???

does anyone attend this college and if so can you give me any suggestions as to which teacher to take for chemistry!! thanks

rggray,

I cant believe that the LVN admissions are so competitive that you were only given an alternate spot. Wow what solid compitition.

However I may have some good news for you. If you gop to the Cy Fair college Nursing department web site, they are planning to open another batch for 50 nursing students in the Fall pending Board approval. The application for that will be due in May, and since a lot of ppl may not be aware of this new batch opening up I am thinking it would be easier to get in.Check it out.........................................

With an 8.9 I seriously doubt you will get in for Fall 06. I would suggest you take a full load this summer and then apply for admission to Kingwood and Cy Fair for Spring 07. Honestly thats your best bet.

Looks like Cy Fair will be admitting students in both Fall and Spring, if the nursing board approves.

Best of luck

Im sorry I dont think an 8.9 is going to get you in this time around. I applied for the Lvn program as a back up and was choosen as an alternate. I dont even think my points are good enough to get in to ADN the program. I have almost an 11. but I just dont think it will be good enough. If you are almost done with all your classes and it sounds like your GPA is really good you should apply to kingwood in the fall. Its an evening program and I think there is only 25 slots so im sure it is very competitive but you might get in. Not many people have all A's in the first box. And you can always retake the hesi to build more points. Good luck. And Im sorry I know how frustrating this all is!!!! if you have any questions feel free to ask.

I am so scared. I want to get in the the Cy fair adn program Fall 06 (Im a senior). But i doubt of I'll get in. Doesnt that mean I would have to take the THEA, HESI exam, my pre requirements by Sept.? Or did they change the deadline date. Trying to get into a nursing school is hard....

Okay, the shock of realizing I won't get in this fall has worn off. I've formulated a plan, but it's bittersweet: If they were to take into calculation my current load of classes I would have had an 11.9. I'm at 13 hours, taking 14, putting me at 27.

I've decided that if I'm going to delay school for an extra 6 months to a year already (I'd rather wait ANOTHER 6 months to go to montgomery/tomball than have to drive to kingwood/cy-fair [not the best areas either]), I should just go ahead and take statistics, government, and chemistry and then apply to TWU and UT-Houston's BSN programs for fall 2007. I'll also reapply to the ADN program next year, but if I have all the prereqs for a BSN program I might as well go for it.

CyFair only starts in the spring.

The deadline for fall programs (Montgomery, NH, Tomball) is This wednesday. The deadline to take the HESI test was last wednesday.

You have to have english I, gen psych, and A&P I before applying- but as my story shows you, even with perfect scores on the HESI test and GPA you'll need around 20 or so hours total towards the degree before applying.

What you need to do is apply to the college for this summer, take english I, psych, and possibly a third class if you can handle it, then take A&P I and a FULL load of classes this fall if you want to apply for next fall. Fall 2007's deadline will be March 2007. They don't take into account classes you're enrolled in- only the ones you've completed (once again, see my story), so you need to complete the three pre-reqs and as many other classes towads the degree as possible before the spring semester if you want to actually start nursing classes Fall 2007. If you're still in high school I don't think there's anyway you can make the Spring 2007 start, unless you've already received a ton of college credits. The deadline for spring is in june I think.

Hope this helps.

ok, so I have another question, on competiveness. So, the cutoff is say 11.2, how many people with a 11.2 dont get in.. say is there alot of people that would have 11.2 but not get in.. If a student has the same score what else do they look at?

I'm sure most who say they have an 11.2 are rounding. Based on how they calculate the verbal and GPA scores into a 4 point scale, you end up with say an 11.19634461.

I'm sure it is these decimal places that act as tie-breakers.

/waits for the bad news of not getting in sometime in the next few weeks

Thanks Matt, for the clarification.. yea, that makes sense.. I think I will proably end up with a plan similiar to yours as well.. I dont want to wait forever (Im 31) so, with that said, I will keep applying and also take preq's for UT-HSC. Good luck to you.. let us know what your letter says1

As expected, my application was rejected yesterday. As I do not wish to traverse to Cy-fair or Kingswood, it looks like I must now wait (and find something to do) until next Fall now. Good luck to those of you still receiveing your letters.

Does anyone know what the final cut-off for Noth Harris ADN program was?

This last fall it was around 11.2 or 11.1...my sister was placed as district alternate and received a spot at NH because someone dropped and a spot opened up. She had an 11.07.

It may have been my spot. I declined admission to NHC 3-4 days prior to Orientation as I was pregnant with my first child and she was due after school started.

I am now waiting to hear from Cy Fair and Kingwood for Spring 07 admissions. I prefer Cy Fair because of the morning schedule but I feel the staff/advisors at KC are friendlier and more open.

Thanks! :) I cant believe I have to go through this all again. I was in the ADN program at Cy-Fair last Fall and I finished the first semester and had to leave during the summer session due to a family situation. I reall want to get back in there because I can start where I left off, but you have to re-apply and I guess they hald some sort of committee meeting on it to determine if they will take you back and ofcourse there has to be spots available.. anyways I dont really know the whole process yet , but just in case I cant get back in there I am applying everywhere else

Good luck to you guys!
