i asked some my friends and the word was that either Mcdaniel or Barclay were really good teachers for chem 1. they and Owen also apply for chem 2. hope this helps.:)

are you going for your adn ? I don't think you have to have chem for your adn at nhmccd . I didn't and i go to montgomery. goodluck ! ! !:)

no you don't have to. but i'm not going for my adn, just doing my basics at nhcc in order to transfer to nursing school.

yes I am going for my Adn. Ive finished all my classes. Im retaking english and psychology to boost up my points. Im sure yall are aware that your points need to be over an 11 to get in and Im at a 10.96.:crying2: so i had to retake some of my classes. I thought why i was waiting I would go ahead and take my pre reqs for bsn thru Prarie view thru the university center. I have heard it is a little easier to get into the bsn program. I too go to montgomery I wonder if you were in any of my classes.

I am planning to get into the ADN program at North Harris too.

Instead of taking Chemistry why dont you take Pharmacology. It is highly recommended that you take it before actually getting into the ADN program. From what i remember from the infosession you still have a chance to get into North Harris closed last yr (Fall 2005) class at 10.8 but you definitely need more than 11 to get into any of the other campuses like Tomball, Montgomery,Kingwood etc.

I applied for Spring 06 at Kingwood with a 9.5 score and received a rejection letter (which I knew I would but applied anyway). My score was low because I had not yet completed all the prereqs (taking them now this semester), but after finishing my classes this Dec I should have an 11.5 when I apply for Fall 06. I sure hope I get in because im only applying to schools in the NHMCCD system. I ll be applying to North Harris (my 1st choice), Montgomery and Tomball for ADN and also to Kingwood for the LVN program as a backup in case my 11.5 is not good enough to get in.

I am currently taking pharmacology now. And have to say my teacher is a joke!!! It has been horrible. No teaching at all and more than half the class failed our last test. Its not that its to hard she is just very unpredictable, you never know what she is going to put on the test she is always changing things at the last minute. We still have yet to have one real lecture.... I think you 11.5 will be good enough but you never know they keep changing things. the reason why I wanted to take chemistry is If for some reason I dont get into the rn program im just going to finish my bsn. goodluck

hi rgrgray ,

I have sent you a private message - would appreciate a response. I have heard the compitition for BSN programs is worse, so where do you think you will get in if you cant get into North Harris.

That is why I was thinking to go the LVN--->RN route. Its much less compitition going the LVN--->RN route though you may end up graduating a semester late.

Have you taken Nutrition or Statistics yet ?

Its funny people always hear different things!! It gets frustrating after awhile. I talked to a counsler for prarie view at the university center this summer and she told me it was alot easier to get into the bsn program than the adn program... But who really knows!!! Im begining to wonder why I want to be a nurse except for the fact I always have since I was a child... I had no idea how competitive it is, I wish someone would have told me before hand. no I have not taken nutrition but plan on taking that in spring statistics Im a little scared of.:uhoh3: I have thought about doing the lvn to rn too but im not sure..... goodluck oh by the way I did send you a private message

Wow. Where to begin. I've been a lurker here for a while, but registered to respond to this post.

I'm a student at Montgomery and was looking to get in to the Fall 2006 program. Of the 12 points, I have 4 for my A&P/English/Psych GPA, 3.9 for my HESI test, and 1 for my total pre-reqs giving me a score of 8.9. I'm only one hour away from having two points, but I was pretty confident a score of 8.9 was middle of the pack, at least giving me a decent chance to get in. From what your are saying, I understand I now have zero chance of acceptance at either Tomball, Montgomery, or North Harris with a score of 8.9?

If this is the case, I am going to seriously have to reschedule the next 4 years of my life.

Im sorry I dont think an 8.9 is going to get you in this time around. I applied for the Lvn program as a back up and was choosen as an alternate. I dont even think my points are good enough to get in to ADN the program. I have almost an 11. but I just dont think it will be good enough. If you are almost done with all your classes and it sounds like your GPA is really good you should apply to kingwood in the fall. Its an evening program and I think there is only 25 slots so im sure it is very competitive but you might get in. Not many people have all A's in the first box. And you can always retake the hesi to build more points. Good luck. And Im sorry I know how frustrating this all is!!!! if you have any questions feel free to ask.
