Ok folks - it is that time again .... there are many new names and faces (well avatars anyway) on our web site ... time to get to know the North Carolina people.
Lets give a location - why you are there, your current nursing status and anything else you might want to share ....
I am Patrick, the moderator for the North Carolina Forum ... live in Asheville - moved here a year ago from Florida and love the mountains and the moderate climate .... can tell you that Hurricane Frances breezed through town last week and gave us a lot of headaches! Anyway, I am a nurse manager for a med-surg unit and a single father of 3. I attend the University of Phoenix and am hoping to graduate with my BSN-MSN in the very near future.
Oh Ok! I'll be on the Neuroscience unit, 7th General at FMC 7a-7p. I'm about like you! I worked for 3 years on 3rd (Fri, Sat, Sun) and I promised myself and my family that I would NEVER work nights again. I'll be there on the 28th, with a bright and smiling face !!
About the t-shirts,they are in office. I had been bringing them to the NCLEX reviews in hopes that I'd see anyone that hadn't picked theirs up. I only had 3; yours and two December grads. Have a great vacation!

Hello Nicole,
I just wanted to say ..... :welcome: !!!!!!!!!
And to wish you the best in nursing school. I am sure you will make some friends quickly and you will soon be helping one another out with learning ALL the things there is to know in nursing. I just graduated this May and took my NCLEX exam on July 16th. While in school I didn't think it would ever be over but then after I received my "Passed" notification on my NCLEX exam it was like, "Wow it's really over, I can start working and really begin my learning" lol.
Hope you have a very positive experience in nursing school.

Hello Night Owl
Welcome to the site. I think you will enjoy it a lot.
This icon says it all: :[anb]:. I have joined to other nursing sites and they don't even compare. Here, members respond back to the post plus they have a much larger variety of forums. A much nicer atomsphere here.
Where in NC are you located?

G'day just wanted to wish you well in your LPN to RN Bridge.
I live in NC too North of Winston Salem so I am a little ways away from you. Hoping you find a study partner and someone to swap books with.
Hubby has saved a heap buying his books on line rather than at the college. Like $$$$$ cheaper!!
I took a travel nurse job in 2004 to Colorado to be close to my mom. Stayed there 3 years doing prn with agencies. Moved back to Wilmington, NC in 2007 because I missed NC. VERY glad to be back. BUT, in CO, I got a job doing telephone triage with a company that allowed me to take my job with me, so I work from home now and LOVE it!

I'll be working on the Neuro ICU at FMC and will start my orientation on August 11. Was going to start on the 28th but decided to take some extra time and take a nice long vacation lol. Will you be working days or nights? I took the day shift; I'm not a spring chicken so wasn't sure how my body would handle a 7pm to 7am shift.
Tell your daughter Dixie said "
hi!!!!"
ps. do you still have the tshirts? lol
