Ok folks - it is that time again .... there are many new names and faces (well avatars anyway) on our web site ... time to get to know the North Carolina people.
Lets give a location - why you are there, your current nursing status and anything else you might want to share ....
I am Patrick, the moderator for the North Carolina Forum ... live in Asheville - moved here a year ago from Florida and love the mountains and the moderate climate .... can tell you that Hurricane Frances breezed through town last week and gave us a lot of headaches! Anyway, I am a nurse manager for a med-surg unit and a single father of 3. I attend the University of Phoenix and am hoping to graduate with my BSN-MSN in the very near future.
Hello Nc Lad,
Chances of finding a nursing school that doesn't require you to take the SAT or the ACT is probably slim. But these exams aren't really that bad and if you're getting your GED just study a bit harder and take the SAT or ACT soon afterwards. Are you getting your GED through a community college and if so does it have a nursing program? Talk with a counselor there and let them know what your goals are.
Best of luck on ALL your endeavors.

Hello to All,
I'm from Salisbury, NC. I graduated in 2005 and have worked nights on a med surg/oncology floor since graduation. I will be starting an internship program July 14th in the OR. I'm really excited about it. I have wanted to work in the OR since school, but wanted to get some med surg experience before doing so. I was born and raised in Statesville, NC and can't imagine living anywhere else other than NC. It's a great state.
