How many of you dont get paid for your lunch hour? Just started a new job in a group home and was wondering if this was the norm. Instead of getting paid for 40 hrs I only get paid for 35----Thanks in advance

I've worked 35 years full time and have never been paid for lunch/meal times. One place I worked nights we did a straight 11-7 with no 1/2 hour thrown in. I liked that best.

Never been paid for lunch. Just another great perk of nursing.

I've worked lots of places, both in nursing and out of it, and have never ever been paid for time for lunch. That's one story....the other is do you get to take time to EAT lunch? I think that is a luxury most nurses don't get.

Quite simply, that is a period of time---oh usually 5-15 minutes(when it's supposed to be 30) when you attempt to place something edible into your mouth, while seated(preferrably) while multiple interruptions occur!

LOL.......ain't that the truth?? :lol2:
