Congrats to you Lyndsey!!!!! What tips could you offer that would make this journey easier for an older nurse like my self who has been out of school for many years. Which classes would you recommend together as well as classes that should not be taken together. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to prepare myself for the entrance exam at wgu. Any helpful tips for the math? I have been out of school for many many yrs and am not that great at math. I enrolled at a community college but couldnt take the remedial math in the summer. Really dont want to spend a grand for the fall semester if there is another way to brush up on my own. Any good books/websites???? Thanks in advance

Congrats!!!! I am really afraid to take this class as i really stink at math. I am going to take a remedial math class at my local community college to refresh my memory for algebra. Then i'm going to enroll at wgu. Do you need to know alot of algebra/geometry???? What kind of math would be helpful to help me pass this class??? This remedial class is going to cost almost a grand. Ugh!!

Oh crap! I also heard positve things about wgu and have applied recently. Also sent my transcripts a few days ago as well. I'm not sure which classes i have to take just yet. Would you mind elaborating on what is it that you are having difficulty with. I am an older nurse 50yrs old and am not really sure if i can do this.. I resigned last week and gave proper notice (4weeks) to this agency that I worked for for 1 1/2 years. I did'nt get my unused vacation time on my last check.I called HR and left a message but no one called me back. Can they legally do this? I have always gotten my unused vacation time on my last check at other jobs. I feel like they are jerking me around. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.Thanks

I handed in my letter of resignation 3wks ago. I have 1 more week to go. I noticed on my check on Friday that they didn't take out any money for my medical benefits. Unable to speak to anyone in HR due to the holiday. Is this legal? I was told that I would be covered until the end of Jan. Then I could get COBRA. I hope they don't think that I am going to pay for Cobra for the month of Jan. I have a medical appt on Jan 13th ,.so I still need these benefits. I just have this feeling that they are going to try and screw me. HR and my supv are shady. Can anyone please give any advice as what should I do? Thank You.

When it comes to giving 3 references for a new job, do you put down their home telephone number and home address? Or do you give their name and telephone number at work? I don't want anyone to know I'm looking for a different job. I work in a small facility and they are all close with each other. I am the newbie and the only nurse. How do I get out of this place if I don't really have anyone to put down as a reference? Can I use a personal refernces? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I left my job in the hospital about a year ago. I am really hating my new job. I really want to go back to my old job but I don't know how to do it. What should I say? Do I speak to human resource? I feel so lost Has anyone asked for their job back and what did you say?

How many of you dont get paid for your lunch hour? Just started a new job in a group home and was wondering if this was the norm. Instead of getting paid for 40 hrs I only get paid for 35----Thanks in advance

I recently gave in my letter of resignation. I gave them 5 weeks notice (I still have 2 more weeks to go) Yesterday I called out sick. I am now being told that I won't get paid for that day because once you put your letter of resignation in, you can't use your sick time. I have sick time in the bank. Is this legal?

I was a smoker for 27 yrs. I quit smoking 3 yrs ago. I used the patch for 2 weeks. I was a fiend when it came to cigarettes. I smoked a pack a day. Sometimes 1-2 packs on weekends. My reason for smoking was that I was young and dumb. Started when I was 15-16 yrs old. I am now 45. I still love the smell of cigs and hope that I never smoke one again.

I have 1RN, 1LPN, 3MHT for 26-32pts. I work in New York in inpatient psych. If you find that place where pt care and staffing happen, please let me know! LOL :wink2:
