I should know better but it still kinda blows me away when I catch a post from a non nurse giving nursing advice.
I'd like to think no one is making career decisions based on a post but I wonder how much we are influenced nonetheless.
Anyway, I just read one here in General Discussion this morning. It was *liked* by the non suspecting OP. (I think non suspecting). Not even a nursing student. With no disclaimer.
It's been right in front of you.And I'm not talking about anyone with a reasonable perspective, more like talking out of her ***. I wouldn't start a whole thread over a different outlook.
I know which one it is and what person you are talking about. But I won't say it since the Admins said not to.
As for non nurses giving advice I think sometimes patients who have experienced something are more likely to share their experience and offer advice from what they went through.
Sure, this thread topic seems to be in the same vein as a few others that have been created lately, that annoy, frustrate, etc., the membership.
That is fine to vent and is really healthy to do so.
But ...
When these kind of threads start calling out another member(s) like this thread is starting to turn, it is TOS regarding divisive debate.
I had a poster make me mad, when they responded to what I considered a pretty routine explanation about reality nursing.
I don't even remember what I posted, or they posted. I just remember thinking "Are you kidding me"? I'm rarely mad about anything here. Confused sometimes, but not mad.
I checked their profile, and they worked in a hospital, but wasn't a nurse. It confirmed my belief that they were clueless, but I kept it to myself. They were racking up the likes, which made me think there was more than one non-nurse on that thread.
I haven't seen them in awhile.
I actually liked to read their posts. I found it interesting that they could hold their own in a forum full of nurses.
