I've heard that's a common error, especially in geriatric females.

No she did not say to a patient with bilateral metatarsal amputations as she was rolling his bedside table in front of him for dinner. "Watch your feet I don't want to chop your toes off." oh yes she did it was me when I was in nursing school. In the same room I was caring for an alcoholic. At the end of the shift I belted out. "Oh, what a day I can't wait to go home and have a nice cold beer" take foot insert into mouth.....far very far

Specializes in LTC, med-surg, critial care.

No she/he didn't...

...believe me when I (jokingly) said I gave my patient 5 digoxin to catch up on all the meds she'd been "cheeking".

...say that an enema is a two person job "One to hold the bucket, the other to put it in."

...repeatedly say "volume" instead of "valium."

....tell laundry that she needed "sh*ts" instead of "sheets."

...cut the hole on a colostomy appliance too small so that four hours after clinical ended it was pushed off by a large BM and the patient needed a bed bath to clean it all up. (My instructor did that!)

No, he did not manage to push my uncle into the elevator, turn to talk to someone and miss the elevator himself. The elevator that proceeded to get stuck between floors for about 10 minutes. True story, although it happened before I was born.

Insulin has to be checked by 2 nurses, how did that get through? Glad to hear the patient was ok though!

No, my very first hospital pt.'s roommate did not say to me when I introduced myself, "Aren't you a little old to be a student?"

(yes, he did ...) :stone

:chuckle

No she didn't eat teh patients desert off his tray!!!!!!

A girl last year ate the patients desert off his tray when he fell asleep! Our instructor walked in the patients room and saw her doing it!.by the way she failed out of class (thank goodness!)

We had a girl that said, "Oh, are you going to eat that?" and ate the rest of the pt's food in front of him and then proceeded to continue the conversation! :nono:

No she did not... give a bedpan to an elderly patient with a foley and a colostomy. :lol2: First day classmate, too funny. But he asked for one, so she did it. At least she's got customer service skills!

I've done it, but in my defense, the woman was 90 and she had had 8 kids.
