Guys.. I'm 9 months in my nursing career and I get very nostalgic about talking about nursing. Am I just a big nerd? There's not a lot of pod casts out there about nursing, and haven't tried any of the books out there.
Did anyone find themselves just missing the talks about different nursing skills and science stuff we use to talk about in school?
Lol.. i had a feeling thats my dx.
but nothing in particular really.. just when things come up like to curos or not to curos cap (mixed studies apparently), or differences in max time to transfuse blood in units (2 hrs vs 4 hrs).. i guess just those for now, until Game of thrones come back on.
Am I just a big nerd?
If you have seven out of the ten symptoms as listed in the DSM-5, Eden&Eve, then chances are you are a big nerd.
However, I would prefer the the address the question in the title of your thread, "Am I crazy?"
By crazy if you mean psychotic, and if you're able to function adequately and appropriately in society, then I have to say no.
However, I am not a psychiatrist, and according to the TOS I am not allowed to give you professional advice.
If you really are concerned about your mental state, I suggest you seek out a professional with whom you may receive the appropriate services.
Okay?
You big nerd.
You want schmience?? Here you go:Among nurses in their first year of practice, does exposure to a Brief (15-minute) Session of Therapeutic Disagreement on an Internet Message Board (B15STD-IMB) decrease feelings of nursing school nostalgia compared to no exposure to therapeutic disagreement?
Nice PICO!

Dx: Altered individual coping related to situational stressors as evidenced by trying to talk about the Krebs cycle while people are on break.

Now, THAT part of nursing school I could do without!
Oh! The endless Care Plans! The convoluted Nursing Diagnoses! The meaningless repetition!

Okay, I'm going to get real here for a moment. I went through some of my journals that I kept during the RN program and found an entry which exemplified my feelings toward having to learn this information.
I remember doing this entry while studying during breakfast, sitting at my kitchen table before leaving to go to clinicals sometime in, what I believe was, the spring of 1989:
