We used to get holidays, but a couple of months ago, they changed to a PTO system.

I get holiday pay! If I don't work the holiday, then I get 8 hours pay. If I do work the holiday then I get time and a half plus 8 hours pay. It's great! To boot, the holidays are based on a M-F 8-5 week. So since all the business office people got Thurs and Friday off for thanksgiving, so do I. So, this week, in addition to my 36 hours of normal pay, I also got 16 of holiday pay. Same for next month too!

I'll get 8 hours pay for Christmas Day even though i'm not working.
The people that are working call on Christmas day will get the usually holiday hourly triple time, plus the $3 per hour for call time, and also shift differential for the 3-11 and 11-7 time.

Ok,I just have to ask this, how many with holiday pay have a union?

I always got holiday pay despite not being in the union. It was a state-mandated pay scale. 8 hrs pay if you don't work, double time or time and a half if you do work, depending on the holiday. (This is in Australia)

Holiday pay. Union.
double time (was time + 1/2 before union fought for and won doubletime)
Worked a non-union hospital before. PTO (at time and 1/2 rate) was your comp, not extra pay---ok for FTE but--- Not too great a deal if you are per diem, like I am.

Thats a surprise I see where you are from Canada. What part of Canada is not paying holiday pay ? Isn't that against federal regulations ?
