i am feeling overwhelming with the studying of the drugs that columbia wanted us to know. i understand knowing the side effects are important. but do they really ask you about drug interaction and the normal amount of dosage for the drug???
any input would be great. thanks in advance! :)

Do a search (or just scroll thru this forum). It has been discussed many times. If you study exactly what they tell you to (as per the 'cheat sheet'), you will pass :) .
hi,
i had done searchs in allnurses.com but unuable to find the answer to my question.
Also what do you mean about the "cheat sheet?"
any input from anyone would be greatly appreciated!!!

You should have received a list of meds that NYP expects you to know for the med exam. Most of them are the basic drugs you will be dealing with on a daily basis, and should have handled during your clinicals. The questions on the med exam are no harder than the other med questions you have had up until know - so don't sweat it.The main thing is to check your math, and understand your meds. All the questions were multiple choice (I took it two years ago) and on a computer (at Presbyterian/68th St), they provided scratch paper, and the test didn't cover every last thing on the sheet. So don't worry, you'll do just fine.
Congratulations and good luck in your new job! :balloons:
yes NYP provided a list of medication that i am expected to know. i'm just feeling overwhelmed if they will test me on little particular things like a specific drug interaction and what not. i know the drugs in general and studying too much i think. i am using 3 drug books and each one has different and adding more drug interaction.
i understand that the exam is in 2parts. i spoke to a nyp women and she told me that i can't get more than 4wrong on each part. however, i see that the question are graded by points.
thank you for the input again any more i greatly appreciated!!!! :balloons:
